The radar on the new Damen OPV looks like the Cenk-S 3D search radar on Istanbul class Frigate and not the Smart-S on PN Milgem Babur class corvettes! If so it is a much more capable radar with twice the range of the already very capable Smart-S 3D AESA radar!

Some visible differences:




Different Radar, Looks like No PDMS at aft but some CIWS (perhaps GOKDENIZ? ), Aselsan stop replaced at front with bigger gun (Marlin 40? as @CSAW pointed.)

There's additional sensor dome at the aft as well.

They also seem to be wanting to use a different VLS but lets see

Perhaps Midlas ? If so that'd mean PN may opt for Turkish SAMs?

More capable than that, I would say it can run anti-piracy/smuggling, Persian Gulf and Red Sea Patrols and free up the Barburs and 054As for more important tasks. In war its cruise missiles will come in very handy.

Pakistan already operates two Yarmook Class Corvettes PNS Yarmook & PNS Tabuk, F-271 & F-272 respectively.
These two were ordered under batch-I [2300 ton each],.

Now Pakistan has ordered batch-II for two more YCC [2600 ton each], PNS Hunain F-273 & PNS Yamama F-274.

By definition it is an OPV and should be used for patrolling duties and free up more bigger and expensive platform to perform duties that require more firepower.

They have a wartime role on account of their AShM but only in support of the bigger assets.

Yep, that's all true for batch-1 (Yarmooks)

Second batch is different beast, though its also based on OPV design but the weapon / sensor suite makes it fit for the same role as a guided missile corvette. So far it appears these batch-2 ships will have near same firepower in SAMs and Ashm as in Babur class. But Baburs likely more capable in ASW role.

The new graphic is suggesting these ships will incorporate even more advance radar than rest of PN ships. So, perhaps these can perform lead role in anti-air too. Let's see what kind of missiles PN will eventually select for this.

I suppose the question of commercial standards v Navy standards ships isn't an issue i.e. steel grade and build durability.

What is the difference between commerical standards and military standards btw? I cannot find anything to indicate the difference.
