Yemen Civil War News and Discussion.. an evolving situation

I have seen evidence of various strikes inside Yemen on Social Media with explanation of their nature (i.e., what was used and how it happened) but I don't want to drag this conversation based on what some journalists claim. The Houthi might have serious defenses but they could bring down MQ9s at best.
they hit a few Saudi F-15s too if I remember correctly

but sure, nobody expects them to successfully hit a F-35 unless they get very lucky

I hope the Yemeni pull off a Serbia and toss out one of the supposed stealth fighters that the US keeps buzzing about. Enough is enough with this hegemon that the world hates.
Careful what you hope for your nation is in a fragile ceasefire you don't want us to also hope for bad things for Pakistan fighters do you?

Original article is from the Je.. New York Times where a US official is quoted that F-16's were used. I'm thinking US "officials" in national security centric position should know the difference between an F-18 and F-16.

I get the F-35. But the 16s? Unless they are taking the long way around (requires mid-air refueling), I don't see a couple countries giving overflight approval.

^^^
It looks like Houthi have well-planned defenses and there are spots from where they can ambush aircraft. On the other hand, American pilots have decent skills and could evade missiles.

Doesn't say if the F-35 was detected or track its EODAS may have picked up the missile plume heading towards its general direction and told pilot make maneuvers now. In Desert Storm when F-117's drop their bombs not only did Iraqis fired AAA but SAMs too to hopefully hit something this was likely the case with the F-35. F-35 EW would have jammed the antenna if it was painting it.

Third ballistic missile fired from Yemen in the past 24 hours. it appears one fell short and one was intercepted.

Now up to 33 ballistic missiles fired by Yemen at Israel since Israel resumed its genocide in Gaza in mid-March two months ago

F-35 Had To Maneuver To Evade Houthi Surface-To-Air Missile: U.S. Official

So F-35 was intercepted over Yemeni airspace. But tue question is, how could Yemenis intercept this fighter jet? Which is claimed to be 5th generation and hence uniterceptable!

Barq-1/2 air defense missile most similar to old Iraian Taer SAM. 50-70 Km range, max altitude 20 Km. With these specs, it can track and down F-35 from 70 Km away. Outstanding

US Missile Defense Agency confirms US Aegis and THAAD have performed “exceptionally well.”

What does that even mean? There are verifiable reports out there where THAAD did not perform so well.

Further, and let's be honest here: THAAD and similar systems are not going to be able to stop everything coming in.
