A “friendly country” signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to procure Pakistan’s JF-17 fighter aircraft that drew “significant attention from defence analysts” during the Dubai Airshow 2025, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Thursday.

JF-17 Thunder is an advanced, light-weight, all weather, day/night multi-role fighter aircraft; developed as a joint venture between Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC), Kamra and Chengdu Aircraft Industry Corporation (CAC) of China.

“During the event, the JF-17 Thunder Block-III emerged as a major focal point, drawing significant attention from defence analysts, aviation specialists and visitors,” the ISPR said.

“Its cutting-edge technology, strong combat capabilities and proven operational performance in Marka-e-Haq [May conflict with India] reinforced its reputation as a highly capable and cost-effective multirole fighter.

“Demonstrating increasing international confidence in Pakistan’s aviation industry, several countries expressed interest in acquiring the JF-17 Thunder. In a noteworthy development, an MoU was signed with a friendly country for the procurement of the JF-17 Thunder, marking another significant milestone in Pakistan’s expanding defence and industrial partnerships.”

The biennial airshow is being held at Dubai’s Al Maktoum International Airport from November 17-21.

During the visit, Chief of the Air Staff also held comprehensive discussions with Lieutenant General Pilot Ibrahim Nasser Al-Alawi, Undersecretary of Defence UAE, and Major General Rashid Mohammed Al-Shamsi, Commander UAE Air Force & Air Defence.

“The discussions centred on strengthening cooperation in advanced training, fostering collaboration in emerging aerospace technologies and enhancing the mechanisms for effective operational coordination.

“The UAE military leadership lauded Pakistan Air Force’s modernisation initiatives and growing indigenous capabilities with a shared resolve to further strengthen military engagement through joint exercises, professional exchanges and forward-looking partnerships.”

he was doing this before any victories...

not to mention the forced early retirement of some great officers in exchange for his chums... mini munir, ruined the finest force.
yeah man you are right , this nigga is turning air force into army . i am shocked that he is the second officer to receive an extension in paf history( first one was during zia so doesn't really count ) .

I believe the most tangible benifits will be spreading out development and production costs for JFT across more airframes. But yes most of this money will not be put to meaningful use and mismanaged
Speculative BS due to personal grudge, I assume. Pakistan (and PAF) making strides in right direction.

Also, an important aspect that people don't realize is the geopolitical benefits that export deals of fighter jets bring to Pakistan. Basically long term relationships are created that open up new opportunities for Pakistan. I feel pity for those who are just whining of mismanagement of Pakistani portion of earnings from such exports of JF-17 Thunders.

Highly unlikely seeing jf17 in Iraqi colors.
U.s will make sure of that

Unfortunately, I have the same feeling. Although Iraqis themselves would definitely want JF-17s. But US has carved this new Iraqi system post Saddam. They have made sure the controls over Iraqi economy, their oil and security decisions. They even have military base in Iraq.

China may have more influence than the US on Iraq. JF-17 for Iraq is a very real possibility. China and Iraq are descended from the earliest civilizations. The US is not.
Yes, the Americans arrived from Mars in 1776.

Did you pay your internet invoice?? X was not down. Stop being a moronic PTI drama queen.
Don't really care about Pti but seems you're really really obsessed with them. Educating the likes of you is like talking to a wall. Yeah BBC is wrong but ARMalik is correct as he is receiving direct Satellite Intel. Get a life

Iraq literally bought pantsirs during the height of WOT and when Russia was under sanctions due to it's annexation of Crimea, Americans influence on Iraq was far stronger back then yet they didn't stop them from purchasing it why would they stop them now? Egypt and Morroco both of them are firmly US allies but the Americans didn't stop them from purchasing HQ-9s,

the whole reason the Iraqis are looking to buy JF-17s is because their F-16s are in poor shape, the whole Amreeka won't allow it talking point is pretty retarded

yes and strong Iraqi af threatens iran and will probably help in shooting down Iranian drones . dont think US cares .

Really interesting to see who the new JF-17 customer will be. No one really has any idea.

I agree it is highly unlikely to be Iraq, US and Israel treat Iraqi air space as their own.

I have a suspicion possibly Jordan, Tajikistan or Bangladesh

Jordan has no real reason to buy jf-17 they are not as closely alligned with china as other Middle Eastern nations and already have f-16Vs on order. Not to mention as before a competent country like jordan with pl-15s and fighters they can’t sanction is a great threat to israel
