I think I have to retract what I have said, PL-17 can definitely target fighter jets unlike previous speculation, and it has further range when the target is AWEC,tanker...
This guy also mentioned beside PL-16, there is a new gen Scramjet AAM and another ultra long range AAM after PL-17.

For J-10s in China, PAF pilots are doing flying training or also tactics from PLAAF?

How was your brother's experience in China in terms of learning, engagements etc.?

Nope, it was focused on platform only but he participated in Shaheen exercise afterwards for tactics development.
Chinese are far ahead in R&D but they have learned a lot from us regarding employment, especially Western doctrine. PAF has the advantage of doing exercises with NATO and non-NATO countries.

Well, comparison to your brother, not me.

I appeared for PAF ISSB in 1990 .
Applied for CAE , but at issb , some of us were recommended for both GDP and CAE .

Went to masroor base Karachi for CMB .
Got recommended for both CAE and GDP.

Ended up getting rejected for both at AHQ . Never joined PAF 😅😅

1. J-10C’s Better Thrust-to-Weight Ratio (TWR)
  • What it means: The J-10C (especially with the WS-10B engine) has more "raw power" relative to its weight than the F-16.
  • The Advantage: This gives the J-10C superior acceleration and climb rates. It can "power through" high-G turns and regain energy (speed) faster after performing sharp maneuvers.
2. F-16’s Lower Wing Loading

PAF has had 37 F-16s flying for a parade at one point.

And I myself have been part of and witnessed all 21 F-16s ready for two squadrons (not PAF) that I was attached to as a FTE some time ago. While there, saw US Marines launching all of their 14 AV-8Bs from their forward deployed squadron.

There are a lot things that maybe unheard of, but this isn't anything new.
