Reporter: What extent are Americans’ financial situation motivating you to make a deal?

Trump: Not even a little bit. I don't think about Americans’ financial situation

--

I am sure this will play well in the mid terms.

The Republicans were losing at least one chamber regardless of the war and Trump won’t be running for reelection.

Confirmation that no crude oil has been loaded onto a tanker from Kharg Island in nearly a week

I post relevant economic data that encompass the war period. I could care less what you think of my “understanding.” The data to date supports my view that the US economy remains strong despite elevated fuel prices.
Again, because you have no understanding, you admit to posting that which supports your position.

Bravo.

FWIW, it was announced on the local news about an hour ago, taking gasoline and energy into account, the inflation rate is at 3.8% which is higher than what it was at this time a year ago.

This is very real, son. You best get in line with the fact that the voters will vote accordingly. How bad it will be is still to be determined.

It absolutely will play into the midterms. The question is, just how bad will it be?

I've already ruled out the Republicans retaining the House. The question is, how big will the Democrat majority be?

Over in the Senate, I will rerun the numbers and see what the likelihood of the Democrats taking control is. If they do, it will be a slim majority. Not one where Trump is at risk of being thrown out of office. The numbers aren't there.

The US can expect gridlock for the next two years starting in January.

Isn't it just a wild statement for a sitting president to say that he doesn't "think about Americans’ financial situation"? Just bonkers stuff. And that's only the strangest thing he will say today.

It does beg questions from the average American.

If it doesn't, then I for one am worried.

What's your view of the way he speaks to journalists, e.g., the example from today? We have seen world leaders clash with journalists, of course, but I have never seen the personal nasty stuff that Trump does (on such a regular basis).

I find many MAGA followers doesn't care about this, right?

It is important to note the full context of that exchange with the reporter. It is not that Trump said he doesn't care about the financial impact, but that he does not consider it as a pressure point on him to strike a deal with Iran, especially over the nuclear issue:

=====================================================

President Donald Trump on Tuesday gave his two cents to a reporter who asked to what extent “Americans’ financial situations are motivating” him to strike a deal to end his unpopular Iran war.

His answer? “Not even a little bit.”

“The only thing that matters when I’m talking about Iran, they can’t have a nuclear weapon,” he told reporters on the White House lawn.

“I don’t think about Americans’ financial situation. I don’t think about anybody.”

He continued, “I think about one thing: We cannot let Iran have a nuclear weapon. That’s all. That’s the only thing that motivates [me].”

Since when has what Trump stated collide with reality

suppose time will tell as cheng would say

To be honest, and you'll likely disagree with me, is he is right regarding the media being the enemy of the people and being biased in their reporting.

Have you ever seen, outside of Fox, a positive reporting of the President? The amount of negative coverage given this president exceeds that of any other.

That's fair and admittedly, I did not catch any press briefings today. Made a run down to PHX to retrieve son-in-law who made a quick trip over to IAH moving granddaughter #2 there.

Im posting economic data from March/April and will continue to post as new data releases. The US economy remains strong despite elevated fuel prices. April retails release Thursday.

Yes 3.8%, which is still far below Biden era inflation. Core CPI remains under 3%, which proves most of the inflation is due to fuel prices.

Voters can vote however they want. Republicans were losing a chamber regardless of the war. I’m no MAGA, and never voted for Trump in the last 3 elections.

Now that 70% includes Irans supply of cruise missiles. 🤣

Yeah, the original estimate that Iran retains about half its ballistic stocks is a more accurate assessment.

For the record, I have friends who work for some of the companies who produce these munitions. I will not go into detail what we discussed as we've been discussing this since the start of the Russia-Ukraine War. Let's just say there is a gap between what Hegseth is saying and what current capacity is able to provide:

For some of the systems, 5 years to replenish is a fair assessment based on current capacity.
