I don't have a favourite. Anyone i can learn from I will listen too.

Locally in the UK there are 3 young British Imams I have a lot of time for.

Shaykh Muhammad Aslam
Shaykh Asrar Rashid
Ustadh Burhan Khandia

They are local to me, similar age, speak English and I have attended their classes or events. Shaykh Asrar especially is very vocal on societal matters.

Ustadh Burhans father Qari Ismail was a true Wali of Allah and served our community selflessly. Thousands came to his janaza, people you'd never seen inside a masjid, because he had taught them Quran and had done so in a manner where he showed them love and kindness. He spent time in Liecester too - and was the teacher of many famous UK based imams who attended his janaza and gave heart felt speeches about what he meant to them. He was an Indian Muslim and spoke urdu to a community that was mainly Mirpuris and Potwaris.
Allahumma Barik, May Allah reward them with highest rank in Jannah,

I meant scholars from the past ^^

don't engage with him on this subject, it'll turn this thread into the dumpster fire all other threads about anything nice end up as.
I know their scripts and tricks. Won't waste time on Wahabi/Salafi garbage and their Zio counterparts.

Back to topic, what can Sufism help a person with ? Is it about gaining control of the self or is it about deeper insights into Creation and religion ?

I am not learned enough to have favourites. I'm not a scholar, barely a student. My Islamic knowledege is limited to the bare basics and anything i've been taught or researched into because of interest or need to find out. For most things I know where to find the approapriate resource to answer questions I have beyond a surface level understanding.

You made the claim, 😂

I don’t even call myself Salafi, there’s no script, if anything will be said will be based from Quran and Sunnah.

If I get power in Pakistan, the first thing I’ll do is destroy all this grave worshippers, and teach them Aqeedah, cause that’s what’s most important.

And Sufis followers are focused on innovations that has no basis in Islam.

If you want to read beneficial stuff, spiritually elevating, I’ll recommend you to read Ibn Qayyim Al Jawzi Books.

Thats what I expected. Takfir and jahalat mixed with violence is the Salafi/Wahhabi way.

Good news is Salafi/Wahhabi will be consigned to dustbin of history once the oil money dries up.

Blud where did I takfeer?

And famously even Mufti Tariq Masood said the same things, if he gets power he will take away grave worshippers and he’s not even Salafi

An interesting article about the history of Sufism in South Asia. It goes back a thousand years and they played a major role in spreading Islam.

This is a topic to discuss the sufi experiences of the PDF community.

I'm of a barelvi background but until recently never had a sufi guide. I'm new to this world and wondered if anyone else in this community is associated with a tariqah or has a Pir?

Please - this is not the place for religious discussion and if you want to issue fatwas please refrain. I just want to discuss people's personal journeys, explore the cultural and spiritual aspects, maybe share poetry, history, teachings etc.
Hope you dont mind, I understand we cannot debate on this but just wanted to share some facts for people to read and research upon.

For example a pir only means a shaykh or a teacher, so in our region or Turkey a pir is a Shaykh of a tariqah, in another words he is a Ustad or a teacher but he is supposed to be highly religous and non worldly person. People often find this alien but a modern word on YouTube and internet is Ustad, Shaykh, Imam and we all listen to them and follow them, so in another words theyre our pirs. In Arab nations they use the word Shaykh.

A Tariqah can also be labelled as alien but its similar to how we have different group names in the western world for small level Islamic movements, Facebook Twitter etc is full of them. Tariqah is just old historical style of system.

The same with brelvi, in reality no such group or sect exists, Ahmed Raza Khan himself was a sunni hanafi qadri, he didnt start any movement but only defended the old classical islam v the new modernist/reformist movements. When he wasn't even born 1860s our region had strong Sunni Hanafi Islam roots with strong sufi links, such as the Mughal Empire, Delhi Sultane, Bangal Sultana etc. The modern reformists attacked the old islam whilst he defended it but also criticised any unislamic practises, so when he wasnt even born the reformist v tradionalists war existed, he defended the tradionalists against the reformists modern agenda.

This is why our parents grandparents great grandparents and so on were all sunni hanafi sufis, they never heard of brelvis etc but ofcourse this doesnt mean they practised tasawuff, or spirituality. In reality a spiritual person is soft kind and full of zikr, he prays 5x salah, jummah etc. These days unfortunately everyone is after the dunya, money is everyone goal but this is the modern lifestyle.

Folks sorry we can't have religious theme threads, and I say that as a Sufi myself.

Please stay away from Sufism and become sects which contribute to all the suicide bombings, oppression of women, terrorism of all sorts and conflict you see in the Muslim world in and out.

Sufism bought Islam to Pakistan and alhamdulillah the vast majority adhere to it, as they do the Muslim world all over.
Central Asia is one of the great homes to Sufism, and with strong blood and culture ties with the region, it has so many blessed traditions of taswuf which honour the Prophet(saws), his noble family and companions. Wahhabism or Najdism which it should be called is banned from there, and many other regions for all the carnage it causes.

Can we not keep it as a cultural or identity type of thread. I believe this is what @313Ghazi wanted it to be but some people on purpose trying to make it in to a debate so that it gets closed.

Sadly our salafi and deobandi brothers have already started slamming people for so called 'shrik', and I am not going to hold back, and it will get very brutal.
The bottom line is we are the majority our beloved Prophet(saws) said the ummah cannot have a majority on falsehood. Enough said.

Sorry to shut this bros but it causes too much friction and I speak from 29 years of experience of this online. It would be nice to discuss things but people, especially our people can't help put their foot in their mouths.
