f you look closely to the ceasefire talks between Israel and Lebanon, what Israel is asking for is that Lebanon controls Hezbollah and Hezbollah stops attacking Israeli forces and targets and in return Israel won't target Beirut and their will be a cease-fire
BUT Israel will control the areas of Lebanon it is occupying, just like in Syria and will make some sort of Buffer zone
That's unacceptable, so Hezbollah keeps hitting Israeli forces and they are really suffering

Netanyahu wants to expand the Israeli territories. That's his bottom line in any conflict with its neighbors. Already acquired new Syrian territories three times the size of Gaza, wants to control 70% of Gaza, and wants to acquire the Lebanese land up to the Litani River. All those three land acquisition would be gobbled up, like the West Bank being gobbled up, in the name of Israel's 'security'.
In the Israeli discourse, I rarely notice the mention of Israel's 'borders' because to them that is an expanding abstraction. Only Iran stands in Israel's way. It is a shame that a chunk of the Syrians and the Lebanese are content to lose strategic, fertile land for short term peace. If it were Pakistan's land, you'd see the response. Heck, Pakistan is fighting with a mighty power like India for four decades over and on a sliver of land 20,000+ ft in Siachen Glacier.

It’s not too far fetched that a Muslim candidate might run claiming only a Muslim can be trusted to sever the Israeli beggar from USA.

Don't be so sure. America is a democracy after all and a big change of public opinion is always impossible to ignore. Thus I see this as Israel's 'last chance': As long as both Trump and Netanyahu are sitting in their offices at the same time, Israel can count on almost unlimited American support.
In the unlikely event of a real progressive Democratic President in 2028, you'd see a very different American stance in the Middle East. Even now, if Trump has a heart attack today, a POTUS Vance will be significantly different about this war. You may bookmark this post.
