PAF Conducts successful test of indigenously developed FAAZ BVRAAM

Heat seeker anti stealth . Will work with integrated air defnce at such ranges as most heat seekers are short range

thats the idea....i assume.

a longer range variant would increase the range obviously . but note theses are slower then conventional bvraams with radars.

also note you wont be seeing the pl-10 in service as this would a successor to it, wont be surprised if it uses the same seeker

I think it is more likely it is using a home grown seeker, or even a Turkish one. I don't think it would be a Chinese seeker, as the Chinese tend to not break up the components of systems that they prefer you buy whole from them.

Gotta say..., am a bit surprised that there is no information on this Missile by Global Industrial & Defence Solutions on their website: GIDS

Faaz & Faaz2 remained listed on GIDS website for atleast 3 to 4 years.

BTW, there were people who used to say block-1s will be pretty soon phased out lol.. I used to be amazed when we fly ancient F7PGs / Mirages with zero BVR capability and they think generations newer block-1 would be phased out "soon".

PAC overhaul capability was achieved for a reason. PAF will never let go of block 1s until atleast mid 2040s. Such a easy affordable, maintenance with massive local capabilities and no strings attached fighter is a gem. Now look block-1s/2s got BVR range of AMRAAMs. They can even be employed at strike role, anti-ship, anti-surface, SEAD / DEAD, things which our F-16 fleet can't even dream to achieve. Not saying our F-16s are useless, they are pretty decent but JF-17s B-1s/2s are extremely valuable and will serve for a long time to come.

The FAAZ-series missiles might be used on UCAVs one day too.

Block 1's ALWAYS had BVR capability with SD-10As when they were upgraded to Block II standards(without the refuelling probe).

I don't understand why people think that the Block 1 airframes have no BVR capability when we have seen soo many pictures of Block 1's with SD-10s

The FAAZ BVR does not bring BVR capability to the JF17, it already had it. It just adds a different type of BVR....

The Indians are stuck - there is a paralysis of decision making, because the Indians have realised that nothing they have actually works together and until they can get the core to work together or a plan, they are simply making bad problems worse.

The Indians need to answer for Tejas before anything else.

This FA'AZ 2 is listed with a range of 180km...!!!

That's gotta be a typo.

This is what the AMRAAM offers...:

AIM-120A/B 40 nmi (75 km)
AIM-120C 49 nmi (90 km)
AIM-120D 70–86 nmi (130–160 km)

Pictures...

Bro, one of the oldest Specials on the JF-17 is full of SD-10s'.
