USA: The Decaying Empire

The threat to US dominance, therefore, comes from within: income divides, ethnic divides, ideological divides, etc. None of these are at anywhere near crisis level, but all divides exacerbate when the economy fails. However, when the US economy falls to that level, the rest of the world won't be looking pretty either. Ironically, the US desire to decouple with China may be the best gift the US ever gave to China

Basically all empires decline the very same way, more or less. Including the Roman Empire.

Weakens inside and then starts losing wars. Some Empires last hundreds of years and end abruptly. Some decline gradually over centuries (Ottoman, Roman Empire).

On average a Empire lasts roughly 250-300 years.

A very valid description. Nothing lasts forever, as they say.

After around 100 years empires are normally warming up, how come we are talking of decline?

I don't think the USA will decline economically, military or politically any time soon,I just think it will become less relevant as a moral and values based voice as the global South emerges.

The values and core implicit social contract that existed 40 years ago in the us no longer exists really. There is no continuity in belief between the young and old anymore, so the internal rot has set in I feel, every empire needs social continuity to a good extent, not rapid change.

Finally debt, national debt.

Because they are mindful of the mandatory glorification of the communist party?
Every time after China was beaten or even conquered, it can alway rise up and come back stronger, the same pattern repeats again and again in the history, it has nothing to do with any political parties. unlike you guys, we Chinese don't associate countries with political parties, if someone says Republicans America or Democrats America, we'll think this person must be crazy.

And yet you must remain ever mindful of what the CCCP demands of the citizenry.

Wisdom, that's the other thing you need.

China must have a type of enduring wisdom to survive so long.

China in 1000BCE, No bigger than Korea, smaller than Japan.
East Asian countries actually started around the same size, even today we are worlds apart in size. Chinese culture is way more enduring and inclusive, it absorbs all surrounding cutures and peoples like an all powerful magnet.

Exactly what I said. But let us remain on topic here.
Huh, so your original comment was not on topic if discussing it is off topic? Baffling, I didn't know what you meant as well.

Well it works both ways. Those same NY neighborhoods up until maybe the late 1950s were likely predominantly white.

However suburbanization that happened after WW2 led to people moving out and giving an opportunity for others to move in. They basically gave up their old neighborhoods.

Note Tony's somber last few words from the clip.

But the above is due to this...can't have it both ways...decisions were made.

It’s not as tough if someone willingly sells their home and moves away. But for those that can’t afford to move or don’t want to move, and have the whole neighborhood change around them, well … all most people ask is for the new people to respect the old timers and leave them to live their lives as they have been. Live and let live.

LOL. The chip on your shoulder is growing heavier by the post, but let me indulge you for a bit. I am trying to get the thread back on track, which is why I have left all the post that were off topic remain, for now. Now can you please apply some calamine. That might help your objections. more.

Anything to say about the topic of this thread, please continue. Thanks.

Yes, that's a pity. But then again, you have an assigned job to do for them too.

Anything to say about the topic of this thread, please continue. Thanks.
