Forgot L-15???So looks like a new PAF in 10 years looking like JF-17C, J-10C, F-16, J-35 and KAAN? Feels like far too many types. Maybe J-10C purchase was. a mistake or interim buy with limited numbers?

Perhaps it just came down to the indigenous engines. Once they meet PLAAF requirements, the PAF then goes in for the buy. Same principle seems to apply for the J-31 and the WS-13 engine.Hi,
On the contrary---the J10C was ready.
The real surprise was for the Paf to find out its capabilities---.
KAAN fighters powered by the WS-10B used on the PAF’s J-10CE could mean a certain level of commonality. If the PAF eventually fields around 96 J-10CE And about 54 KAAN Fighters it would mean over 200 engines in active use. The PAF could try to get domestic ToT (along side possible local production of the WS-13E) to support its fighters. For the Turks, it would mean the KAAN would be available earlier for export, as a non-western engine variant would be avialable.J-31/35 makes sense for Pakistan as sharing same powerplant with JF-17. However news that Pakistan is a partner in Kaan could indicate either Pakistan is playing hard ball with both or PAF will opt for a heavily customized airframe combining sub systems from both. Buying x2 5th gen aircraft doesnt make sense.
Would have hoped Azm would have been a clean design similar to F-23 though but personally in favor of the J-31/35 over Kaan as Chinese have more experience in aircraft development.
Just follow Indian Defense Research Wing (IDRW).BTW, J-31 news (My love since 2015) brought me back to it and now I am once again interested in all this.
You got no idea how much I’ve always fancied that machine![]()

How would the KAAN fit in the mix? Probably optimized for the A2A role, whereas the J-31 could be more multi role.

It seems ever since the J-31/J-35 news got out, that site is on fire.
Titles to parnay wallay hotay hain aur daikh kay andaza hota hai kay chotroo may utni aah lage howe hai.
Chirna aur randi-rona tou Indians say seekey.
I swear, itna tou hum nay bhee Rafale ko nahe cover keya.
Why would India join anything when AMCA already exists? We already tried joining PAK FA once.I don't think India would commit itself to F-35 or with Russian Su 57 but would attempt to Join Fifth or Fight plus generation programs of BAE's Tempest program by UK OR Future Combat Air System by France.
It is necessary for India to avoid Technical and more importantly Political complications which could arise by adopting system either from US or Russia for their future defence needs.
Though India will keep USA engage in many domains of their defence requirements but would be a preferred choice in Logistics, Naval and domains
India has gotten things like NSG waivers none of treaty allies have gotten.

We could purchase f35
India and USA have some kind of a CISMOA in place

COMCASA: Another Step Forward for the United States and India
The conclusion of the COMCASA agreement between India and the United States is a big deal.thediplomat.com
for the J-31 and the WS-13 engine.
What led you to that conclusion? Surely, the size, wait and dimensions of any power plant should be taken into account before it is equipped with an aircraft & above all will China allow that to happen.
What is the need for same class weight jet like j31 and kaan both are 5th gen so why go for 2 fifth gen when both are similar?
