HAL LCA Tejas: Updates, News & Discussions

Usual reality check for fanboys from HAL....

Supply chain issues delay deliveries of LCA-Mk1A jets

Yeah, needless to say HAL will make another promise and all the fan boys here will tell us again that by september they will have 4 fighting sqds of MK1A or whatever. The prooject is becoming a bad joke.

Tejas and JF-17 were basically started around same time (Tejas a bit earlier I think), they still do not have a fully fledged operational version of the M1KA, whilst JF-17 production is basically coming to an end soon with PAF moving on to PFX and FC-31.

Korean now have F-21 production read, Turks will start producing Kaan next year.

HAL has totally screwed over the IAF with fake promises. Best scenario is they will keep delivering essentially 4/4.5th gen aircraft whilst entire world moves on to 5th/6th Gen in next 10 years.

Worse case scenario it may take 20 years to deliver all M1KA/M2 planes, so basically still in the 4.5th gen game in 2045.

By then you could be looking at PAF/PLAAF fleets 100% 5th/6th Gen. Maybe a few J-10Cs and F-16s hanging on.

F-22 and F-35 are the only fifth-generation fighter jets in the world. Fourth-generation fighter jets will continue to be in service. The USAF plans to replace F-16 with another fourth-generation fighter jet. The Rafale and Gripen will also remain in service for the next 60 years. It's important to note that while the fifth-generation F-22 is nearing retirement, the fourth-generation F-16 is still in service and will remain so until the USAF acquires another fourth-generation fighter jet.

yes, and Gripen, F-16 and Rafale will be in service for many years, my point is world has moved on.

You are incorrect, J-20 is also 5th gen and in service.

My point is all the operators of these planes have plans in place that will see them field considerable 5th/6th gen fleets over the next 20 years. IAF may need even have an AMCA by then going by the complete s**tshow HAL have made of Tejas.

Indian Air Force does not agree that J-20 is a fifth-generation fighter jet and Tejas will continue to be in service in different versions, such as Tejas MK2 and MK1B. New trainers will also be introduced in the future. Tejas serves as the technology test bed for the upcoming fifth-generation fighter jets and drones of the Indian Air Force.

Indian Air force may not agree, but rest of the world does. Maybe it is this very head in the sand attitude that has led to their current predicament. If you cannot even admit to yourself you are facing a formidable 5th gen threat, what hope have you for serious long term planning?

forget about rest of the world worry about Pakistan and PAF you guys niether have money to buy new F16s or the grippen or the rafale or the Eurofighter but all you can get is some J10s and JF17s form china cause China wants to keep India on the leash of so called TWO FRONT WAR THREAT or so it thinks

but point is do you have that kind of money to buy 5th gen or is USA or France or Russia ready to sell ypou there latest weapons/missiles/avionicks and maybe there 5th gen fighters even if you have money .....answer you know is ...NO

so instead of trying to be very intellectual aerospace journalist better know ground realities of pakistan which is struglling to get money to run its goverment without the crutches of IMF LOANs ...... forget 5th gen and what india has they are not for you

1950s Pak did not have money - F-104
1960s Pak did not have money - Mirage III
1980s Pak did not have money - F-16A
2000s Pak did not have money - F-16 Block 52
2020s Pak did not have money - J-10C
2030s pak did not have money - FC-31?

If that is India's defence strategy, maybe get a different strategy?

Seriously the world need indian certification for any jet to be 5th Gen. Otherwise they are not :ROFLMAO:

For Indian their Tejas are even better than Rafael, Not to mention J20, J16, J10 and other Chinese goodies. With that mental level you are saying because indian don't think J20 as fifth gen so it is not 5th gen. Stupidity at it's peak.

well looks like either your toopetrified by india or too obsessed like a true LAL TOPEE follower but anyway LCA is not a 5th gen nor anything even close to Rafale or latest gen F16s for that matter but sure you can caress your bruised ego with whatever fancies you but you know the real facts about pakistan and what it can really afford so keep dreaming no harm in it ;) :P

Dear it's not like that, I do respect indian who talk with sense and give logical reply like @Raj-Hindustani, @MirageBlue and many others. I can understand people's association with their country and it's products, is natural and even we too have that but whatever we say should be logical and atleast have common sense. People who say J20 is not 5th Gen, Tejas is Better than J20 and Rafale, Astra will be better than Meteor, J31 will be in Pakistan in 2025-26 and other claims like that they really irritate me and this is not the case of only indian but some Chinese, Turkish, Pakistanis and other nation people also do that and they irritate me equally and I reply similarly to them also.

And I am continue to do that whether you like it or not.

well i dont know one indian member who can ever ever say any of the ASTRA weather MK1 or MK2 is better or even close to Meteor BVR made in euorope but know many pakistanies here who are seen commenting like a single pakistani pilot in his JF17 BLK 3 can defete IAFs Rafale loaded with meteor missiles and SPECTRA suite or F35 L II or even the F16 BLK 72 of israel

so please keep that holier than thou talk with yourself i know what my stregnths and weaknesses are and i dont boast until i know what i have IT
IAF for its part always plays or tries to play a waiting game which is quite funny and we indians tend to get frustated with that attitude but they know what they are doing so please .... thanks but no thanks for your concers for IAFs WAR prepairdnesses or lack of it ;) :P
