Well, we will not know the full potential of a fighter jet until it is proven on the battlefield hope never gets there. But I am sure it will more than match anything the Western power can produce and it is newer than F 22 or more than a match for problematic F35

Honestly, we can assume but to be sure is IMO simpyl not enough information available even more so since the current WS-10C are still a generation behind the F119 and lack still thrust in comparison. As such, being newer and wishful think alone even more so in the absence of proof is a risky combination to think it is better.

Remember, WS10C is only an interim engine. They not using WS 10 C for long within 1 or 2 years they will have the production model with WS 15. No, it is not wishful thinking it is reality. Nobody knows the exact thrust of WS 10C for sure so far all the data are guesses and using that the difference is not that much!

The likelihood of dog fights in modern warfare is nil. Radar AEW, an Infrared sensor, will decide it. BVR Missile, Data link, situation awareness, electronic support. All those facts are definitely better in J-20

Come on … on the one side you say it is the best fighter in the world and after K only warn to be careful with such a bombastic statement you say in a few years it will use the WS-15 and then it is! As I said before fighter jet today's effectiveness is not based just on mechanical power alone. The day of the dog fight is gone for good Now who can see first and has longer missiles will win any fight.

The Chinese military has confirmed that its J-20 stealth fighter jet can easily reach supercruise, which experts said on Monday can bring significant tactical advantages and reflect the power of China's domestically developed engines.

The J-20, a "Cross-Straits Lethality" weapon, is characterized by a high stealth capability that allows it to effortlessly penetrate a hostile air defense system, a high mobility that allows it to easily reach supercruise, and a high situational awareness that allows it to quickly identify targets and perform precision strikes, the PLA Eastern Theater Command said in a social media post on Sunday evening.

The J-20 is a sharp sword in the sky; a vanguard that leads to victory, and a go-to option in breaking down hostile defenses, the PLA Eastern Theater Command said.

Being able to perform supercruise easily indicates that China's domestically developed engines are powerful, and the J-20s equipped with them now have even stronger combat capabilities, analysts said.

The J-20's conversion to use domestically developed engines was revealed at the China Airshow 2021 in Zhuhai, South China's Guangdong Province. Earlier J-20s were reportedly equipped with Russia-made engines that analysts said did not support supercruise.

Supercruise is not always linked to just engine thrust but also aircraft planform and relative drag and area rule.

J-20’s design makes it inherently easier to pass through the transonic regieme.

You're right sir but F35 uses high bypass engine which is not capable of supercruise at long ranges and F35 is not sleek and streamline design as F-22 and also I'm talking WS-10 engine which is in same class of F16 block 60 engine GE F-132 which have thrust of 32,000lbs

WS-10 engine has been upgraded over time and reach maturity now. So it is not far from WS 15 as performance. Jet engines can either do supercruise or NOT the question of how long is irrelevant. The definition of supercruise is reaching supersonic speed without afterburner.So either they can do it or can't! Let me make it easier for you flip the light switch it is either on or off!

You're just beginner of jet engine development, west making jet engines during the WW2 hence they're lots of experience then you

And my question remains same if WS-10 upgraded serval times and near the thrust of WS15 why do you need WS-15?

And remember dude P&W F100 F129 and GE 100 series and Russian AL-31 series is only good for 4th gen heavy jets like F15s and Su-27 which have much less max weight than 5th gen jets (around 60,000 lbs) but 5th gen much heavier than 4th gen jets (more than 80,000 lbs)

If you fit these engines good for 4th generation heavy jets on 5th gen jets , both engines and airframe has much less thrust to weight ratio than 5th generation engines and have a slightly more drag then lift because of lower thrust levels require continuous afterburning thrust to overcome the drag of 4th gen engines
