Why didn't Egypt contract 2 A330 MRTT from France
As long as no information related to the contract appears within 4 years, it is considered void, and perhaps the reason is factors related to price versus performance. The plane is sold for $300 million. The Chinese alternative is better economically and technically feasible. The Egyptians never get a good offset in exchange for their deals from the West. The price of weapons is exaggerated, like a Western mafia to drain wealth in exchange for a performance that has not appeared parallel to these high prices. The performance of Western weapons and the systematic and continuous destruction of them by the Russians in exchange for the huge parallel spending puts a question mark on the contract for Western weapons.

M1A1 SA Situational Awareness main battle tank
M1A1 SA (Situational Awareness): Upgrades similar to AIM tanks + new 3rd generation depleted uranium armor components.(special Armor)..

M1A1 AIM (Abrams Integrated Management): A program whereby older units are reconditioned to zero hour conditions; and the tank is improved by adding Forward-Looking Infra-Red (FLIR) and Far Target Locate sensors, a tank-infantry phone, communications gear, including FBCB2 and Blue Force Tracking, to aid in crew situational awareness, and a thermal sight for the .50 caliber machine gun.

Armament
The M1A1 SA uses the same main armament as the standard version of M1A1 main battle tank. The M1A1 SA is armed with the 120 mm M256 smoothbore gun. The main 120 mm smoothbore M256 armament is equipped with a muzzle reference system to measure the bend of the gun tube. Mounted coaxially to the right of the main armament is a 7.62 mm M240 machine gun, and a similar weapon skate-mounted on the left side of the turret for the loader can be elevated from -30 to +65º, total traverse being 265º. A total of 11,400 rounds of 7.62 mm machine gun ammunition is carried. On the top of the turret, the M1A1 SA is fitted with a Stabilized Commander's Weapon Station (SCWS) armed with an heavy machine gun 12.7mm caliber. The stabilized weapon station enables accurate firing of the machine gun while the tank is moving at speed over rough ground. Mounted on either side of the turret is a British-designed (L8A1) six-barrelled smoke grenade discharger designated the M250.
Design and protection
The hull and turret of the M1A1 SA is made with advanced armour construction similar to the Chobham armour developed in the UK and gives protection against ATGWs and other battlefield weapons. Survivability improvements include frontal armor and turret side armor upgrades. The new special armour makes the Abrams M1A1 SA tank particularly lethal against heavy armor forces.
Mobility
Accessories
The M1A1 SA package improvements include second-generation Forward-Looking Infrared, Far Target Locate, Blue Force Tracking (BFT)/Force Battle Command Brigade and Below (FBCB2), a tank-infantry phone. Standard equipment of the M1A1 SA includes also an eye-safe laser rangefinder.
[td]
The M1A1 SA is motorized with a Lycoming Textron AGT 1500 gas turbine. The engine operates primarily on diesel or kerosene-based fuel, but can operate on petrol during emergencies. Approximately 70 per cent of the engine accessories and components can be removed without removing the power pack from the tank. The complete power pack can be removed and replaced in less than an hour. The Power Train Improvement and Integration Optimization Program (Total InteGrated Engine Revitalization (TIGER) engine and improved transmission), which provides more reliability and durability.

American deals are normal because they come to prevent Egypt from developing local developments or even integrating weapons. Developing M1A1 tanks locally or even in cooperation with other countries is less expensive. Even the last batch of M1A1 tanks was equipped with the same sights that the latest defense is being developed with. The deal is ultimately to support the American economy. The same thing, HELFIRE missiles are very diverse in capabilities compared to modern Chinese missiles. Chinese JK2 missiles have a range of 35 kilometers and the same destructive power, and at a price of course 1/4 of the price of American missiles and with cheap production from China and without restrictions on quantities.

70 mm missile guidance units, locally manufactured, are much cheaper than American prices. America has begun to steal from countries through arms deals several times over. It is true that Egypt will not pay a single dollar in arms deals, most of which are funded by American aid, but the prices are also exaggerated.
Army-2024-Ka-52-and-X-MD-E.jpg

The same thing, the development itself does not meet the requirements of the future. The engine is a product of 30 years, and there is no real development on it, whether reducing fuel consumption or replacing components with longer-lasting components or reducing maintenance requirements, or even new engines instead of rehabilitating them. The development did not
include systems to hinder drones or even integrate drones into tanks or integrate missiles into the turret to increase firepower or even develop the tank management system or better ammunition. The Americans, for example, did not even provide equipment equivalent to what the Russians provide, who are less advanced than them. The Russian KA-52 aircraft is equipped with a huge range of ammunition and missiles, Herms, LMUR, Kh-MD-E, even the older missiles 9K121 Vikhr with a range of 12 kilometers and 9M120D Ataka with a range of 10 kilometers. We will not talk about Chinese ammunition, meaning that the Americans provide Egypt with modest-performance equipment to weaken combat capabilities under the name of free weapons.

Or because it is easy to target Apache helicopters as a result of using short-range missiles that expose them to targeting by shoulder-fired missiles.

The only benefit is to increase stockpiles of less effective weapons.

The Ukrainian Abrams destroyed by 4-6 Russian FPV drones saved the tank's crew thanks to the defensive system of ERA cubes installed on the roof of the turret. But in reality, the MBT should be able to defend itself against slowly moving FPV drones and emerge victorious from the clash and survive in order to continue the fight,
GfQKA0FWcAA7whu.jpgnot just save the crew. That is why during the modernization of the Army /I am thinking here of the Polish Army/ it seems necessary, in addition to building a huge stock of ERA cubes /e.g. standardized ERA-Pangolin cubes/ also to develop and install as many as possible of the cheapest RCWS turrets such as the one from Centauri.Slow FPV drones can be easily destroyed by 40mm HV airburst grenades, and the system should operate completely automatically, receiving initial targeting data from the 360-degree surveillance system and in the case of the K2 also from radars.

That be a good camo paint job on those Egyptian Abrams

Did you read about the special armor on Abrams SA?

The upgrade of the Abrams tanks to the M1A1SA Situational Awareness standard represents the return of the tank to its original condition as a completely new tank, as the tank is disassembled and remanufactured from scratch. This development also focuses on upgrading the tank's "cognitive awareness" capabilities and improving and upgrading basic protection. The development of the tank's "cognitive awareness" is one of the most important factors in ground combat, as it contributes to increasing its ability to monitor and detect targets early, which increases the tank's ability to deal with them and destroy them quickly, as well as increasing the tank's survivability on the battlefield and reducing the risk of being hit.

The only differences between this standard and the M1A2SEPv2 version are the following:

- Commander's sight (among the components of the fire management system)
- Automatic fire management system
The Net-Centric Warfare system is concerned with command and control

All of these systems have alternatives available locally, as Egypt recently succeeded in developing and manufacturing a local fire management system for FCS tanks known as “Strike.” It also developed and manufactured the commander’s thermal vision scope within the fire management system, and Egypt also designed and developed a local command and control system for land systems and mechanisms. It was revealed during the Egypt International Defense Industries Exhibition (EDEX).

The problem with the Egyptian leadership is that they fight any real development or scientific research. They never spend good amounts of money on scientific research and development, and they do not consider how to exploit modern developments to integrate them into equipment. For example, what if a developed chassis was produced, derived from the M1 chassis, by redesigning it and equipping it with the following:

Screenshot 2024-12-21 at 22-17-17 Hanwha to unveil K9A2 SPH with Composite Rubber Track at DSE...png

Composite Rubber Track (CRT)
The result is reduced weight, reliability, and ease of maintenance = lower operating costs, and it allows the tank to be used for other purposes after redesigning and reducing weight

Developing an engine derived from the GT-1500 engine
With more fuel and fewer parts, Honeywell
Presented an update last year for the engine, and Egypt had updated the engine in the nineties to work well in the Egyptian atmosphere and reduce fuel consumption. Developing the engine by reducing weight and giving a longer life to the parts that are replaced with each cycle is useful in any case, integrating local updates with engine development
Then, there is a need for a number of new engines, not rehabilitating old engines, as long as the deal is cheap
otr_gun_gsh-23_m01.jpg
Egypt had 500 MiG-21 and 120 Mi-8 aircraft, other than those on the Mi-17 and Mi-24 aircraft
Integrating the Gryazev-Shipunov GSh-23L dual gun platform
In the Abrams tank turret with night vision systems provides high firepower and benefits from the small size and weight
t-64e_dslkj92112121.jpg
Developing the 120 mm ammunition by taking advantage of the designs of the Italian company Leonardo used in the 127 mm ammunition
Vulcano 127mm to produce a version of it for the M1 tank with a 120 mm caliber with a longer range and greater penetration ability after the design, thus we get improved ammunition, the property is in the hands of semi-educated people who do not manage the Egyptian ammunition factories as usual, and all of you integrate a dual missile container for multi-purpose missiles directed on one side of the tank turret as one of the secret solutions and increase the firepower of the tank
WNIT_5-64_LW_Vulcano_diagram_pic.jpg
These simple developments can be implemented quickly in the event of the availability of the will Good management and this is of course lacking in the current gang organization.
As for developing a fire management system, if funding is available, a local system can be developed that is less expensive than importing and quickly put into service locally.
