50 kg is the weight it usually failed , it could not reach 400km previously , this time it reached a 450km x 1100km orbit
It failed because it had a insufficient 2nd stage: that was the design flaw.
This time it was still less than 50kg or maybe around that area. 32KG + 10KG in nano satellites. Let’s not forget the claimed payload capacity for Simorgh was up to 200kg.
To fix the underpowered design flaw they added R-27 in second stage. Picture is there for all to see. However the diameter was too small so they couldn’t put the two thrusts side by side and had to improvise.
If R-27 was enough of a solution they would have stuck to 75-100kg weight . The fact they dropped so low makes you question the long term solution as a launcher.
Nothing to do with weight of casings.
They can order Khorramshahr engines from MOD without issues, it's clearly in mass production in more than one variant already
They already used R-27 in this Simorgh variant. That is why it was able to get enough speed.
Can this new version lift 100-150kg? Skeptical. Seems like a stop gap measure until Sarir is ready. Not sure status of Zoljaneh after a few attempts
