Indeed, as it seems, also the PLAN Naval Aviation has finally revealed its first two operational (?) J-35 fighters.
And if I read their construction numbers correctly - namely 0011 & 0012 - they are LRIP aircraft!

The maximum production capacity that the PLA's J-35 series fighters (naval version and air force version) can support does not exceed 240 aircraft/year.
The maximum production capacity that the FC-31/J-35 foreign trade version can support does not exceed 48 aircraft/year.
This is the current theoretical limit. That is, the maximum number that the relevant industrial chain planning can support is not the actual production volume. If the relevant industrial chain increases the relevant planned production capacity, the number will continue to rise.

Though I think 240 aircraft/year is too much, at the same time I heard from different podcasts and some Weibo chichat, our armed forces have a big appetite and are ambitious, they do not consider fifth gen like some kind of golden egg, so we can definitely expect some big number.

Does rhe naval version uses the more powerful WS-19, whereas the airforce variant uses the WS-21 ?

The J-35 naval version only has the WS-21 engine.
The J-35A air force version has two different engines, the WS-21 and the WS-19.

Is it ready for mass production? No. So what are they supposed to do in the meantime? Buy fewer 5th gens and save the money for 6th gen platforms? You fight wars with what you currently have not what you might get in the future.
