I have hired both American nationals and H1Bs, from several countries including India,in the US. Earlier, we would be indifferent to their visa status and sometimes not even be certain whether the candidate needed visa sponsorship or not ( HR would take care of that). But , starting in Trump's first term, USCIS started demanding a lot more paperwork and made the process a lot more difficult. So, the bar for hiring someone on a H1B visa increased. So, I would say most employers would expect a H1B to have superior skills over an American candidate to justify the extra cost and headache involved in hiring them.

I would be interested to see "if" Trump moves to say that all H1B visa will be revoked in 24months from now, and USA IT companies have to rehire all H1B visa will local resources and make them pay to send them back to their countries of origin. That will have the most "material" effect on local hiring itself. This is low hanging fruit.

Moving back IT jobs that have been outsourced overseas already, is far far more problematic, but can only be attempted over a multi-decade programme if the intent is there. You cant unwind 30years of outsourcing is a few years. Anyone who has worked in IT, can tell you that.

Trump cannot ban outsourcing to India, that is now baked into the system. and he certainly cannot do it that quickly either. What Trump can do is remove the favourable conditions that make it easier to bring someone in from India to the USA to do a locals job.

Absolutely spot on. There is a marked difference.

The Indian members and us all agree on one thing. H1-B crowd in the US should return to India to contribute there. There is not much disagreement between us. It is just that the Indians being Indians have to make some fuss. In the end we all agree.

Indian government is in advance negotiations with GCC to ghar wapisify H1B Bakhts. The GCC should play a role in easing Indo US spat. Europe seems eager to host them too.

It's like everyone wants to get their hands dirty in this modern slave trade.

Slave trade at its peak benefited the subcontinents elite. It coincided with the most prosperous times ever recorded in the region's history.

Not many people have written(media) on it. If you wanna make some money, you can do that sensing the online trends these days by buying data from Indian sellers of youtube, Facebook, twitter or pretty much every western database.

I don't live in the US. I was born and bred in The Netherlands. I am not affected by Indian H1-B tech bros. Although Indians are invading The Netherlands and have started to deliver mediocre work. Many Dutch companies are not satisfied.

Alhamdulillah. I have a good job that I enjoy on a daily basis.

Whether you like it or not Indian tech bros (and sisters) are coming in large numbers. It is called globalization. It is a race to the bottom

whether you like it or not some Indian/Chinese immigrants are the reason USA has Microsoft, Google, Meta, Nvidia of the world. Of course every country wants to have the Microsoft, Google, Meta, Nvidia of the world.
