Cargo plane crashed off Karachi coast

Only 27 years of age.
In terms of Aviation, yes, its not that old.

But we have seen newer Aircrats crash too.

Having so many Operators isn't a call for concern because once an Aircraft is sold to another Airline/Company - its has to be approved by that Country's Regulator (Civil Aviation) and in order to get it insured - it goes through Checks by an 'Approved' Facility before getting cleared.

That being said, once it becomes part of a fleet - its maintainence needs to be constantly monitored by the regulator. In our case, the Pakistan CAA.

...I don't need to say more on that topic.

Can I see hands of anyone that has ever stepped inside the CAA Building in Karachi.

Eerily similar circumstances...

The K2 flight also had the IRU replaced at Sharjah, and it was not a planned activity from what I have read. It surfaced only after the plane landed in Sharjah.

Hit the nail on the head...

Recommendations from MOD Investigation into crash of PIA flight AP-BAL in 2006.

This I believe was the Fokker-27 that got tangled into the Electric Cables during takeoff in MUX (Multan).

PIA Grounded the entire F-27 after that & eventually went for the 09 ATR-42's.

On a side note..., how many of those ATR-42's remain that haven't been cannibalized?

5, reserved for Gilgit route. I remember when the Fokker was the go-to aircraft when flying to Peshawar, noisy bastard. xD

I took the LHE to ISB route once.

...and when you say "noisy", I take it you've never gone anywhere close to a An-24. That will give an entire new meaning to noisy & viberations.

Took the Kandahar-Herat route.

Uus din jitni Surats atti theen - par raha tha. Par-par kay phook raha tha.
