Chinese 6th Generation Aircraft News & Discussions

I suppose the lower 2 intakes can adjust air flow rate in high speed, such as mach 2-3.

NO, again also here too, the chief designer himself noted it is NOT Mach 3 capable.

Chicken or the egg - thinking of the F-35 aggressors splinter camo.

The flyover was just amazing, a total alien beast.

Thanks for the info. I think so too, it's unnecessary for Mach 3, it will cause too much heat, no stealth for infrared detector.

My point is, the lower 2 intakes may be capable to adjust the air flow, also it will reduce RCS because it will reduce the exposure of the fan.

Well, Judging by the size of J-36, it is comparable to the 2023 proposal of NGAD, has very large combat radius, and suitable to conduct air-superiority mission in Pacific without much air-supporting units (besides some drones).

While Boeing's F-47 looks like the 2024 version of NGAD, the affordable NGAD, of cause it will haunt witth delays and cost overruns like the rest of the US projects.

Good point. DSI does not prevent a plane going faster than Mach 2. There's nothing special about Mach 2. It's just a number. DSI is not magic that mysteriously stops a plane going faster than Mach 2.
DSI operates optimally at Mach 2. If you go beyond that, the engine power will drop dramatically.

It seems that both J-36 and J-50 are on a fast track of flight test, comparing to the pace of J-20.

So can we expect a shorter timeline for development? maybe the early batch of J-36/J-50 can supply to the military units before 2030?
