Chinese Naval Platform & PLAN discussions

The PLA's strategic planning is a highly classified state secret. You will never get the correct answer from social media. No expert can answer this question either.

China regularly publishes many policy planning documents and defense planning documents. However, these documents require a high level of political acumen to extract even a small amount of information about future developments. Military organizations and think tanks around the world have expert teams studying these documents.

For example, this document. So, how much of this can you understand?
A cursory look would indicate China wants to export only enough to not disturb the balance of power in any region and draw undue attention towards itself.

We had a feeling we would be in for another round of weapons ‘reveals’ out of China this Christmas, following last year’s ‘leaks’ of not just one, but two tailless stealth tactical jet designs, among other developments. It appears we are getting at least one installment of this in the form of a medium-sized cargo ship packed full of containerized vertical launchers, along with sensors and self defense systems. The message is clear, China is making it known that it could, and likely will, turn ships from its behemoth of a commercial fleet into not just shooters, but arsenal ships.

The vessel has containers packed on its deck, both used for containing weapons and for mounting them, along with sensors. In other words, the layout appears to be designed as something of an improvised superstructure in order to turn the cargo ship into a heavily-armed surface combatant of sorts. This includes the mounting of a large rotating phased-array radar forward of the bridge atop three containers, as well as another domed radar or communications system across the deck from it mounted on two containers.

.......

We now know the idea and concept behind this might be more "crazy" than people might think, from the latest podcast of Guancha.

This indicates that our researchers have sufficient budgets and various imaginative research and development projects. To meet this requirement, several conditions need to be met: sufficient research talents, sufficient funds, and sufficient technical reserves.

It is currently unclear whether this is a new type of ship or weapons for sale.

If it is a new type of ship, I believe it serves as a backup ammunition ship for the fleet.

China possesses A-shoot B-guidance technology. These ships need to complete the tasks of receiving orders and launching missiles. The missiles are guided by early warning aircraft and unmanned reconnaissance planes.

This does not require using the fleet's ammunition, ensuring the main fleet's continued operational capability.

If such ships prove feasible, as long as China is willing, it could establish many such fleets in a short period, each fleet possessing thousands of vertical launch systems.

In that case, the number of vertical launch systems in the Chinese fleet would be terrifying, effectively preventing other countries from attempting to join a conflict midway and launch surprise attacks against the Chinese fleet.

Combined with long-range strike capabilities on land, in the event of a war in the South China Sea, China would have the strength to confront all the world's fleets.

In fact, our military has used this kind of thinking before.

In the past, when our military strength was insufficient, we put cannons and tanks on ships.

I am pleased to see that the fear of insufficient firepower has persisted. The military strategy of 'when estimating the enemy, consider twice as much' has always been used by us.

I now believe even more that 'please send me to participate in the first battle, I will achieve victory' is not just a slogan, but a real commitment.

Interesting video, with good animation. The Speaker (an expert on merchant shipping) initially thinks it could either be an armed merchant cruiser or a commerce raider. But thinks it could be a kind of strike cruiser / arsenal ship?

Is this a way China could quietly put equipment on Chinese ships (if all systems could pull back into the containers), far from PLAN support, to defend SLOCs?

A recent program on CCTV's military channel featured a war game exercise conducted by the PLA Naval Aviation University.1767245572696.png

In one scene of the video, a flag marked "Type 096 Strategic Nuclear Submarine" was clearly visible. This may be the first time information about it has appeared in official media.

Does this indicate that the "Type 096 Strategic Nuclear Submarine" might soon appear in the public eye? Let's wait and see!

I have to start the year 2026 with a confession or correction, because I really didn't think the UCAV/CCAs were intended for the LEGO-like convertible Container Ship to „Light Drone Carrier Cruiser“ vessel.
