Egyptian Armed Forces

One of the things, that Egyptian Armed Forces must work, is the Marketing Team during exhibition. We have some problems in it

It used to be 100X worse back in the Mubarak days. Ever since Sisi has been president things have turned around 180 degrees. At least they have a website and actually show pictures! Back in 2008-2010 we were lucky to see a single F-16 picture or an Apache and most of them would be from US military personnel and photographers who happen to take pics during the Bright Star exercises.

But I agree 100% they need to market & have a better publishing source than what Kuwaat El Musalaha Facebook page is doing.

Look at 23:11 to 23:14. TAI T625 Gökbey : maybe a good replacement for the Gazelle helis. We must retire those old Gazelle or we will end up having a lot of crashes (India with Aérospatiale Alouette III etc...)

Enta b'theb el Turkeyeen awy henh? lol, just busting them on you y'asta.

But isn't the Gokbey basically a copy of the Agusta Westland 139/149? I think it's the same exact thing with some Turkish stuff in it. As a matter of fact, I think that's what the EAF seems to be doing is going with the AW-149 in this armed configuration to replace the Gazelle, unless they want to arm it even more I'm not sure. Besides the rocket launchers on the sides, this things is loaded with gadgets.

If there's a price difference and Egypt can assemble them locally like the Gazelle, then yes that would be a good choice. I guess you can lightly arm it up to a certain point also like the AW-149. And that would need to be a requirement in order to replace the Gazelle with the Egyptian Police and Army.

When they were in Türkiye and there was talk about replacing the Gazelle with the T129 ATTAK helicopter, I was like wuuuuuut?! lol. I don't think they need a full-fledged attack helicopter like the T129 for that role. They have more than enough of those types ATM.

I just admired their modernization and that of the Poles hahahaha. Turkey understood what is the meaning to be self sufficient and not rely on someone. I saw a video and their high officials from the defense industry said that they are open to cooperate with countries and to transfers technology.

The same thing applies to a rifle for fighting. Home Egypt tried the Russian rifles AK12/19, and the producing factory confirmed that the Egyptian development and the Egyptian rifle were better than the AK100/200/12/19 family, so I preferred the Egyptian rifle even over the Czech rifles CZ-805/807.
@Sami_1 Can you explain more?

See this is another issue i'm worried about. What if in some stretch of the imagination we are able to get the AIM-120D ? What they would simply do is give the other guys the AIM-260. Then we're stuck in the same cycle.

BTW, at first I kinda noticed those bolded words and thought maybe, possibly could be, perhaps it is, hope it is. would be awesome if it is lol. But then I read it again just now and I think it actually is! That's awesome and just wanted to relay that thought since I didn't think so back after last Thanksgiving lol. I thought you were just interested in the 'politics' of this particular fascinating saga.

Speaking of fascinating; this is fascinating, and I also didn't notice it until the last few days digging into shtufff I've been meaning to like looking at all the available information from this last EDEX and I stumbled on this pic I thought it was really interesting that on the same display for Dassault Aviation, there's the following.

On the stand is"
MICA IR NG (Next Generation)
MICA RF NG
STORM SHADOW SCALP
Eurofighter Typhoon model fully armed
Rafale fully armed with belly SCALP & 2 Meteors

1717023567877.png

Dassault Aviation exhibiting most likely its Rafale F4 and MICA IR & FR Next Generation (the MBDA acronym of NG actually stands for Second Generation) but also the Storm Shadow/SCALP. At first, I thought it was a bit interesting that Dassault Aviation would be exhibiting the Typhoon with its Rafale and MICAs which aren't necessarily compatible with the EFT, or at least we haven't seen it yet and the Typhoon is a completely separate enterprise from Dassault. Could the only connection to the two be the Storm Shadow/SCALP?

Good notice. But I am sure it is the MBDA part. There is no Dassault Aviation will market her sisterly and rival aircraft. I think that Dassault Aviation part was behind the MBDA zone so that's why you have the illusion that it is the Dassault Aviation zone

That's weird so it's still active! I don't even know what the hell happened in the first place. I know there was a beef and a split-up of staff or something but I thought it was shut down for whatever reason. Apparently that's not true, and I even see some of the members that used to be on there still on there and it's active. WTH happened anyway, does anyone know exactly and fill me in por favor?

I was away on travel in a remote area for a few months so I was MIA for a little bit when all that happened so I have no idea what caused the beef, but I'd like to know! I need to find that thread, too. Maybe @The SC if you have some time can help me find it. I'll try first but if I can't I'll ask,
Military took over the page and forced the owner to sell

That's what happened..so everyone left..no one wants a page scrutinized by anyone even if it's the "great" Pakistani army..

Every one wants freedom to say what ever they want

Ha! you got me! I still firmly believe that additional rafales is the optimal choice with Meteors and Mica NG's. The rafale has much more development potential already laid out for it and has a far less complicated supply chain. Plus, the current partnership with France should be fully exploited.

Yeah I don't believe those had any connection to the EAF, or else I'm sure we would've heard about it long time ago LOL. People would've been posting and talking about that 24/7.

Like you said I think the only connection is the Storm Shadow/SCALP shared between the two aircraft.

Although if there ever was an instance where both fighters served in the same air force, be it in Egypt or eventually in Saudiya, they might just integrate both lines of A2A munitions between the two. Egypt more so than Saudiya because the numbers would be less. Whereas Saudiya already has 72 Typhoons and ordering more with possibly 100 Rafales lol. They might not need to combine any weaponry. But it would benefit Egypt with 54 Rafales and 24 Typhoons.

This was the Egyptian Rafale at EDEX.

And this is a pretty interesting picture which was showcasing the Damocles pod on an EAF Rafale with I think one of the pilots' wives in one of the new, fancy shmancy hangars, but the crazy part is...........can anyone figure out where the hell the front landing gear is? loool

1717043885530.png

The other funny part is that according to this section from one of the French online sources that posted information on the first contract shows that they only purchased 2 of the Damocles pods, one per squadron and curious if they're getting the Talios with the next batch.

Here they are saying that Dassault lent us 2 DAMOCLES pods. So we didn't purchased them. Now you need me to translate French hahaha

I used to speak it fluently, but that was back in the late 70s & 80s. I've forgotten most of it since I've hardly spoken it since.

So what does that entire sentence mean, especially the development part? I put it into Google Translate (and before you start with Google Translate yes I know it's shit but that's all we really have on the Internet plus I don't have the ability to put accents on top of the e's) and this was the translation:

21 dont deux on pres (Egypt et developpement aupres de la societe D'assault)

21 including two near (Egypt and development with the company D'assault)

Are you telling me that "on pret" means "on loan" or even "on lease"?

And what is the rest about development?

Honestly I just realized maybe they wanted to say that 2 were loaned, one for us and the other for Dassault. So maybe the developpement part meant R&D by the Dassault Aviation.

That's interesting. So out of the 21 produced, 2 were loaned to Egypt one of which is being developed further by Dassault and the other 19 went to L'Armee de L'Air?

If that's it, that development part is strange to say the least. I figured if the EAF only borrowed them, that probably meant they were doing that only to have them, use & train with them until the Talios was ready and then they'd purchase that newer pod.

It does make some sense since we've only seen 1 pod ever mounted on any of the Rafales at any one time, these two below and the one in the hangar pic above.

The military took over the forum?! Are you serious? I didn't think the server was anywhere near Pakistan, unless the original owner lived there. So a new person owns it now? Because it is active, just not very at all, actually.

Any more details you can share about that? I'm guessing they didn't want any criticism of the Imran Khan situation?

Love it! I'm really glad about that, BTW.
Completely agree with that assessment. There's so much more going for the Rafale vis a vis Egypt for the exact things you mentioned. Where as the Typhoon has its benefits, it does suit Saudiya better than it would Egypt mostly because of the conglomerate of nations factor and supply chain like you said. It ties in with so much more from France than just the Rafales, particularly the navy.

And look at this, @Ghostkiller I forgot I had this but that was why I was thinking they intended on moving on from the Damocles (which is the older targeting pod and MBDA is phasing it out) and move to the Talios, so it makes sense. Check out the last line.
