Ukrainian achievements in war with Russia are impressive on many counts and ongoing war in Ukraine provides lessons to every observer. NATO is closely monitoring this development and taking notes.

TB-2 is a good drone and Turkey can improve it or develop a better drone. But war in Ukraine is of very high intensity and complexity and TB-2 did not last in this environment.

In the early weeks of the Russian invasion, the drone often singled out in news headlines was the TB2, produced by Turkish manufacturer Baykar. Among the hits logged by Ukrainian TB2s are five tanks, six towed artillery pieces, six naval ships, two logistics trains, two multiple rocket launchers, two anti-aircraft guns and over a dozen surface-to-air missiles, according to the Dutch open-source intelligence website Oryx.

However, over the course of the last year, several reports noted that the drones seemed to have disappeared from available footage of battlefield action and that their use had become more limited in the face of more sophisticated Russian air defenses.

“For the TB2, I don’t want to use the word useless, but it is hard to find situations where to use them,” Valiukh said at the GSOF Symposium here on Oct. 26.
In an interview with Defense News, the Ukrainian commander clarified there is evidently still some use for them, but that the deployment frequency and roles for those drone types had changed.

“We are extremely grateful for the TB2s, but at the beginning of the war they were deployed more and striked more,” Valiukh said. Now that Russian air and electronic defenses have grown in quality, he added, the last TB2 flight he observed lasted a mere 30 minutes.

The biggest hit was to Ukrainian drones, with almost 90 per cent either crashing or being shot down.

They arrived amid much hype, but this quickly faded when they encountered Russian jamming. Aside from one or two videos of successful strikes, they largely proved to be a failure.

Another system — the Turkish Bayraktar TB-2 drones, although not Western, suffered a similar fate.

If that were the case, Russian EW systems in Syria would block the TB-2s during Idlib Operations

I can't say much about us though,because our current MoD has been in office for more than a year and hasn't actually signed anything. He is talking big and contradicts himself and today he announced some stuff about the "Agenda 2030",his catchphrase,the "acquisitions" and reconstruction of the Hellenic Armed Forces as he says.

But again,he repeated the same vague and empty phrases. He's saying that Greece will shut down a big number of army bases that are undermanned or not used (apparently we have a big number of small bases everywhere),something about new training for conscripts,something about training in the use of UAVs and counter-UAV systems.

Then he mentioned that we'll spend 2 billion euros to create an AA dome. However,he had already said months ago that we only have 2 billion euros to spend for air defence.
There are rumors that we're in talks with the Israelis to buy David's Sling and some other system,probably Python.

He then mentioned that the Greek counter-UAV system called Kentavros,the one that was successfuly used by the two greek frigates months ago in the Red Sea against Houthi drones,will be "one of four anti-drone systems" of the Hellenic Armed Forces.

He didn't say anything about the other ones.

Again he repeated vague bullshit about creating defence research centers and supporting the greek defence industry,the funny thing is all this time he did little to actually fucking do anything. For example,Greek companies making drones that can carry Akeron missiles,Bulgarian companies makes loitering munitions,Greek MoD is like "let's go buy a few Switchblade".

A month or two ago he said we are negotiating with the French for the 4th FDI HN frigate. Hasn't said anything else about that yet. Except that he had suprised everyone when he mentioned that the all except the first frigate,will be able to carry MdCN missiles. Which can actually reach any part of Turkey and negates the strategic depth they used to boast about. However,a ship carrying only 8 or even 16 missiles isn't enough. If you have 24 or 48 cruise missiles it's not enough,but it does send a message. Of course we also have SCALP EG for our Rafale and Mirage 2000-5 Mk.II

And here's the thing. He wants to limit the Air Force at 200 fighter jets at most. He wants an Air Force with only Rafale,F-16V and F-35.

He wants to reform the Home Guard and the Reserves.

Then he goes and says "There will be a huge strengthening of the Hellenic Navy. The Hellenic Navy is about to get such capabilities of strategic strike that it never had in the history of Hellenism"
