Several militant secessionist groups exist in southern Philippines islands, one called MILF (Moro Islamic Liberation Front) in particular achieving notoriety perhaps 15-20 years ago as the most active and best organised of these separatist groups. They've been quiet of late though.
Perhaps these Indians went to Philippines looking for MILF.

Used to hear about jihadis in Philippines way back in the "war on terror" days, Abu Sayyaf was the group as I recall. Have not heard about them or the Moro Liberation Front or Mindanao insurgency in international media for 15 years now.

One thing is for sure - they didn't receive any training in India and that matters a lot. A person can be from anywhere, get indoctrinated a second place and receive arms training a third. The biggest issue is stopping the indoctrination and training.
E.g., nobody raises question on US for David Headley because his indoctrination wasn't done by the country (USA). Many similar examples exist. Having said that, Indian gov need to do more to curb the indoctrination of certain groups esp. the ones which are bearing arms and murdering innocents

The ummah that's described in Holy Quran make their own selves accountable over coming their OWN NAFS... This current ummah is riding on the horse of Desires with no knowledge or seeking the right path with sincerity....
Don't misquote and use holy text for wrong purpose...
Before referring to Holy Quran stand in front of mirror and ask yourself 3 just merely 3 questions...
1. What duty have you done for religion? As in helping your neighbor or feeding poor or standing against corrupt element?
2. What duty have you done for your Country?
3. What duty have you done for humanity that is made your self knowledgeable...
Same Holy Quran describes why Almighty chose Adam over all others...

The point that everyone is missing. Syria is the birthplace of ISIS but a Syrian brother fights them selflessly, without caring for his own self, only thing I can conclude from this is ISIS is a foreign implant and has nothing to do with arabs or muslims.
