LCA Navy twin seater, NP-5. This is the last LCA Navy prototype that was built. Still hoping that the Navy orders at least 8-12 of these for training pilots on carrier landing and take off.

It is the only supersonic single engine trainer capable of arrested landing and take off from a ramp on an aircraft carrier in the world.

The US Navy is still flying single engine T-45 Goshawks for training carrier pilots. And it'll be replacing them with other single engine trainers, albeit ones that aren't even capable of landing on a carrier in the first place. Either the T-7A, T-50 or a M-346 variant.

This isn't about using the LCA Navy as a attack or fleet defense fighter. It is about using the LCA Navy trainer for the role of training carrier pilots. TEDBF will not have a trainer variant & the Rafale M's trainer compatriot, the Rafale D that'll be acquired will only train pilots in how to fly and fight in the Rafale M.

Only the MiG-29KUB has a trainer variant that is currently used for training carrier pilots in the extremely challenging work of carrier landing.

You know my obsession in units and I really regret, the IAF got rid of all their fabulous unit badges, but is there a method to identify a certain aircraft being operated by a certain unit?

You'd be surprised to know that it is not. Simply mimicking it on a shore based facility is being considered enough by the US Navy.

Not with Su-30MKIs, Jags, MiG-29s or Mirage-2000s.

But with Tejas Mk1 it is simple- the ones with the IFR probe are from No.18 Sqdn and those without are from No.45 Sqdn.

You’re thinking of a consideration vs a requirement based on it all hinging on PLM - I would love to see how deck motion, limited landing area, and the arrestor cable system can be replicated.
