Tejas MK 2 serial production will start in 5 years time
It is shaping up very well with Rafale like Cockpit and Sensor Fusion
This was specifically demanded by IAF for Tejas Mk.2 after inducting Rafale
And Mirage 2000s will be retired after 2035
Even Now the Tejas MK 1A with AESA is better than Upgraded Mirage which carries RDY 3 radar
Mirage has more fuel carrying capacity and hence more loiter time
Tejas MK1A should have a modern cockpit, similar to those in Tejas MK2, Rafale, Gripen, or F-35. I hear JF-17 Block 3 is coming with a modern cockpit that includes a single wide multifunctional display and a side-mounted control stick. J-10C doesn't have that kind of modern cockpit, but the JF-17 Block 3 does.Tejas MK 2 serial production will start in 5 years time

Far cry from Indian posters saying they never wanted them. I said it when they were first offered that India is the logical destination for countries looking to rid M2ks. IAF loves them for VERY good reasons and regardless of Tejas or otherwise these will continue to be in the IAF for another 15-20 years for capability and strength.
It absolutely is the most logical choice for the IAF. Those who think otherwise are simply not aware of how capable Mirage-2000-5s are in multiple roles.
In fact, the IAF must look at the Greek Mirage-2000-5 Mk2s as well. They are looking to sell them to finance a buy of 6 Rafales instead.
The problem with ordering any more of the Tejas Mk1A in place of these (which is the standard argument offered) is that HAL cannot deliver any of those Tejas Mk1As before it completes delivery of the 83 on contract plus the 97 that they have an RFP for. Delivering all these 180 itself will take up till 2032.
The Mirage deal did Not happen in 2001 , because we went for SU 30 Licenced Production

Cockpit of Tejas MK2 is far better than Rafale cockpit
HAL has started manufacturing the prototype of the Tejas Mk2.First Rafale flew almost 40 years ago, MK2 Tejas will probably fly in 2030. Cockpit being better should not be a boast
HAL has started manufacturing the prototype of the Tejas Mk2.
1st LCA MK-1A squadron will be raised in the month of July.
The question is Why we did not go for More Mirages in 2000 A.D after Kargil
It is because we were entering the licenced Serial Production of Su 30
