As India’s submarine plans desperately look for a strong anchor amid Pakistan’s resurgence and China far ahead, Snehesh Alex Philip ThePrint’s Editor - Defence and Diplomacy, speaks to Rear Admiral Chandra Shekhar Rao (Retd), former Director General, Naval Design (Submarine Design Bureau) to understand what went wrong and what can be done to salvage the situation.

Indian Navy P-8s can blow out Pakistani Chinese subs. The only catch is air superiority to protect the P-8s. It would help to have a larger fleet of P-8s

Hi, I love your confidence. LOL!

The key is will the P8 be grounded or have to fly far out of range of the PAF? I am sure in a shooting war they will be a priority to be shot down. To politely point out, we all know how well the IAF has done in 2019 and 2025...

Submarines operate in the ocean. How far the Pakistani submarines operates before losing air cover?

P-8s are Boeing 737s with pretty good range. P-8s fly at 500 mph. your fastest sub is 40 mph
