To all my Pakistani brothers, let's be honest here. The only reason you think this ceasefire is a good deal is because your country is involved in this. No problem I would maybe feel the same as you. But from an Iranian POV I don't understand how you can take this. Please put yourself in our shoes.

Agreed. But Iran need breathing space. If it could attack with like 50+ missiles in each salvos on Israel, it would be doing so. But all we are seeing is 1-2 missiles in each salvos. This shows Iran is not in a position to put too much damage and resistance to Israel currently. More than Pakistan and the world, you need time. You need time to strengthen yourself. There is no doubt that they will be back. But they can either attack you in 3 hours or 14 days , what would you choose ?

It is as if Pakistan's good will and previous statements ultimately does not mean much, I understand the stakes are high but so are the costs.

You do realize that to remain as an interlocutor you have to have good offices with all relevant parties and sometimes you need to signal to them that you are getting their message across as well, talk about a thankless task, in this context

Also if there is a ceasefire and the Americans or the israelis look as if they are breaking it then Iran would be entitled to continue to retaliate, Pakistan is trying to broker an agreement, they are obviously in no capacity enforcing anything, so the aim is to come up with just some formulation that allows a lasting peace.

Iran is now acting like Iraq during the First Gulf War. Iraq had a powerful military at that time, but its overconfidence led to its downfall. After the First Gulf War, Iraq never recovered and became a shadow of its former self, even though it sits on huge oil reserves.

If everything is destroyed, Iran will take ages to recover if it ever recover, while it cannot inflict comparable damage on Israel, the US, or the Gulf countries. In contrast, those countries would recover very quickly compared to Iran.

People are acting like suddenly in two days all the equations will change.


It's a negotiation and sometimes you start at opposite ends with the first offer but hopefully a formulation is worked out


Remember that if Iran entertains diplomacy, it could put pressure on trump domestically.
