Well the US has surmised that Iran will never launch a first strike and will accept any ceasefires offered. As long as that remains true they have total control over the flow of the conflict. The blockade has been quite brilliant, I doubt it was Trump's idea. Trump can't just keep unilaterally extending the ceasefire while maintaining the blockade. There really isn't a military reason to resume the conflict from their prespective.
