You can work with the Saudis as much as you can work with the Americans. Even less. Khomeini, the founder of the 1979 revolution, literally said that even if we forgive what the Americans have done, we will never forgive what the Saudis have done.
The normalization of our ties with the Saudis didn't stop them from trying to overthrow our system the first chance they got, did it? They pursued the exact same policies after normalization, only more passively.
Bahrain is a semi-Iranian state. So are the Emirates and Kuwait. All have large "Ajam" populations, very friendly towards Iran and Iranians. I cannot believe you think we have more aligned interests with the Saudis than the Emiratis, Bahrainis or Kuwaitis. The only aligned interest that the Islamic Republic and Saudi Arabia can have in common is to destroy the Persian/Iranian culture. I cannot think of anything else.
