I took time off to see Team Melli play. The positive thing was that there were 70k in attendance. The downside was that it was a political rally both outside and inside. The USA had already stationed nuclear armed bombers in the Pacific. Mao had dismissed nuclear threats from the US by calling it a paper tiger.

The USSR feared a totally confident China would undermine them. They probably thought a Korea completely taken by China could mean China as a potential rival to the USSR in Asia. Who knows. The Soviets were a slippery bunch and were always up to no good.

nope. It should be forgive and reconcile (not forget). Ignoring the UAE means welcoming Israel. It should be ideally like an EU formation post WW2, when countries who slit each other's throats sat together and moved on.
