If a single term of a treaty is broken, the whole treaty stands violated.
Although nobody in msm reported it as such, or deliberately suppressed the numerous open source opinion pieces that stated this at the time, Iran is somewhat justified in its position on that basis alone. Now assuming standard maritime law then applies, we can argue that Iran should not have exerted influence on Omani jurisdiction in Omani waters, which is a different argument and is technically true, but I don't think the actions in the Strait would be restricted by the terms of the already abrogated treaty.
In terms of the endgame, strategically, Iran has always had a plan. Iran can't hurt USA directly at all and can't hurt Israel directly much, but it still believes it can hurt the logistics and economics of both nations. I suspect Iran is now prepared to pay the heavy costs that will be levied in exchange for a decisive struggle for control of the Strait.
I also think the concluding elements of this endgame for Iran will ultimately be decided by whichever group (hardliners vs. reformists) controls their nation's direction.

Yeah, just like we will leave the NPT if America attacks us. Qalibaf is too desperate for a deal, and Trump already said the MOU is dead, so Iran is being slow and reactive as always.

Take it with a pinch of salt, as all twitter garbage should be....but...
Pretty dumb statement if Iran does say this. On the contrary, it should be stating that the MoU was broken by Israel weeks ago. It probably should have stated that at the time even, declaring that Iran is no longer beholden to this MoU.

Did you really think the other side would have honor the MOU? I get you’d want Iran to lose and suffered but let’s not pretend Iran is the cause of this. Why the f**k would a regional power give up vital control of its region to a country from 8k miles away so they can extract more resources. The usurper bastard country on the Med doesn’t belong here as well.
