It didn't work well because Iranian leaders forgot that Western leaders also love using War and Violence to advance their Geopolitical Interests, with Diplomacy a smokescreen and unreliable alternative at best. The world is pretty much lawless, with rules set by those on top applied to only those on the bottom. Iranian leaders fail to adopt a more Machiavellianistic Realpolitik approach to international relationships by focusing more on Force, like how NKs did to successfully build Nukes.

The holocaust story is the legitimacy of the state of Israel in the West.
I don't think his mentioning of the flaws of the Holocaust logic to justify the occupation of Palestine was wrong. If anything, it won Iran millions of supporters around the world.

I just remembered a fun fact. In a connected graph of people (i.e. a society where people know each other), it is believed that any people two people are connected by at most 6 people in between.

So, for example, even if you are some random dude on the streets of Tehran, there is a sequence of people that connects you to Khamenei! And the length of this sequence is at most 6. It's called six degrees of separation. It just shows you how formidable big data can be when it is employed properly.
