Makes no sense, Russia did the same. Even basic J-10A would have been a huge upgrade compared to most current IRIAF planes as long as they came with SD-10. Without long-range ARH missiles, Saeqeh and Azarakhsh are only useful as light attackers anyways. And with proliferation of manpads, they would really need something like a targeting pod to be useful except in very low intensity conflicts.

Indeed the Russians were not so different. So the question really is why are the Chinese being treated differently? Time for creative and maybe some lateral thinking. Some practical conjecture?

in short they are still useless circus airplane equipped with pl7, sidewinder and iron-bomb
Well, they keep pilots and land crews trained. So, even if they are obsolete right now, they are useful to keep IRIAF trained.

even those f-5 is more useful for that role, at least we use them for cas , we don't use F1 for anything

F1 technology are french origin. They are useful to train or show or making a logistical school for other french related aircraft. Probably IRIAF will never take a french aircraft again. But some PGC have them, and knowing a bit how they work are useful if some of those finally fall in IRIAF hands, like Su25 or F1 before.🤔

At a time many Air Forces are transitioning to 5th gen planes like Pakistan, Turkey, S. Korea, Japan, Israel, China, Indonesia, Taiwan, Gulf nations and all European nations, Iran is juat about to acquire 4th and 4.5th gen technology....
