Iranian Air Force (IRIAF/IRGC-ASF) | News and Discussions

China is “there” now and there is nothing to debate as far as their engine technology is concerned.

They even dumped Russia from C929 jet liner project and will build all systems themselves for service in 5-10 years from now.

Even the prototype J-35s now fly with domestic engines. Unless you are very confident in the technology you do not put a test engine in a prototype plane.

My opinion is that their last mile, if not last metre, will happen with the final integration of the WS-15 with the J-20. But it’s a matter of time, maybe less than a year.

The ultimate test is performance is of course under battlefield conditions.

It was said on Iranian TV that unmanned Qaher flight tests are underway and will be unveiled soon

This doesn't look like an unmanned aircraft but a fighter jet in which only the cockpit was removed

Why not keep the cockpit and make it manned, humans perform better than unmanned aircrafts

Very interesting post indeed the video, and also, the comments.

The screengrab below shows two similar but different-sized plan layouts of Q-313.

The larger one is twin engine with a chin mounted sensor much as that found on the FC-31/J-31A

The smaller one is single-engine with a more conventional nose-mounted sensor.

Do the commentator give a clue regarding the differences in size.

Thanks

Piet

?. Abjectly incorrect. Unmanned machines are far far simpler and far far far more performant.

Bird of prey tipped wings and those small intakes will cause a stall at higher altitudes especially in quick altitude gaining maneuvers (which every fighter jet does).

I will be very surprised (and shocked) if Iranian engineers didn’t fix those two flaws. If they bring out a drone with those same two flaws then we will know the program is a joke.

Also how do they plan to communicate with this fighter drone? Ground station receivers only have a few hundred KM signal and are the most susceptible to jamming and spoofing.

Iran’s Solemani constellation is likely not going to be active for years and it remains to be scene if that’s just simple GPS or a secure data link constellation.

Unless Iran plans to use Russian or Chinese military sats for communication or else this fighter drone will have low range relying on ground stations. Which against a near peer adversary we saw how they go after Iranian radar and communication nodes during conflict. Seems like a huge [potential] bottleneck at this point.

You will be able to say that when we see the C929 flying with Chinese engines, as well as the C919.
But probably the first C929s will fly with Western engines, this if China is not given sanctions or embargo as for the engine for the Xi'an MA-700.
I have a feeling that the Russian RD-35 engine of the category to power an aircraft like the C929 will be ready before this aircraft is made ready for the first flight.
PS
Military engines are one thing and must meet certain parameters, instead those for use on civil aircraft, have much more restrictive parameters and are difficult to achieve

Thank you for injecting common sense into the discussion.

Anyone thinking that China is even close to threatening Airbus and Boeing monopoly is using some incredible illegal mind altering substances.

Just look at Sukhoi with its SJ1000 plane to see the difficulty of breaking away from Western monopolistic rule in aviation.

It very large transport jet that can carry aircraft/helicopters and huge loads.

If it’s in Iran it’s to drop off something large or pick up lots of weapons.
