Might be a dream but we can speculate. Why not go the whole hog, i would think adding the export Izd. 117S or even 177S engines (i don't think the russians will sell AL-51 this soon) and a Phazotron Zhuk AESA (like on MiG-35 but with more TRMs), i'm sure Phazotron would be eager to sell if allowed to.

Same for a hypothetical F-4 upgrade, Zhuk AESA from MiG-35, RD-33MKM engines etc.

probably the problem is Iran can't build something comparable to RD-33 and those countries are China, USA, Russia and a consortium Of Spain/France/Germany

a country that can create Hyper-sonic missile , if really wants , it can build something like RD-33.

for god sake RD-33 is 50 years old engine ... we started our fighter program 30 years ago and after 30 years , there is no result!

this just shows the level of incompetence and corruption among IRI ranks ....

and in Electronic areas we are nowhere , we can't even build something comparable with Playstation-1 processor ....

IF we dont blame IRI officials harshly , they will continue to use these kind excuses and Im sure even in 2030 , we still will talking about upgrading F-4s ( which they didn't received any in past 30 years )

WE NEED RESULT NOT SOME USELESS TALK AND PROMISE FOR NEAR FUTURE ( which look like never will come !!! )

Turkey , Pakistan , South Korea , all of them are designing and in path to create their own 5th gen fighter jets , while we couldn't even build a useful sub sonic jet trainer !!!

It is not fair to compare Iran with China or Turkey, none of them are under medieval siege like Iran. Praise that even under such conditions IRI is able to maintain something so demanding like F14.

There are not equality in such comparisons!!!.

In the war , you either have the weapon and power or not .... and in these days , we needed charismatic man which IRI didn't any to grow in past 20 years.

You are telling yourself. Irán needs weapons, not a famous singer as a leader. Iran had a very charismatic man murdered because lacking of weapons (specifically a modern Air Force). And it is obvious IRI is working hard in It.

but even if they build aircraft of national design (perhaps generation 4++) they do not have a national engine today and probably many components are purchased in other countries
