Yes, Commander AFSC.do u know what he is now
I agree... 100% J-10 were available and the normal rate is >90% for F-16 and J-10 fleet.
He was DCAS(O) then, got a new portfolio now.
USAF has a huge fleet... it is easier for PAF which has set up 2 different depots for MLU and Blk 52 separately...90% for the F-16 fleet is incredibly good! How did we get that? USAF hovers at around 70% for their F-16s, but they are suffering from a shortage of ground staff as recruiting is tough and many keep being transferred or retained for F-35s.
My guess is we just have so much trained manpower to throw at the problem?

Our mission types are also way lesser than them... except CT ops, mainly A2A only... no Harpoon or HARM etc.
Very few aircraft that are down for a long time. E.g., I remember one that had ots wings sent to USA. Otherwise, periodic maintenance is planned in a way that no more than 2 aircraft are in Engg wing.
Crossposting from the other thread: AFM has confirmed in Feb2026 editio, the SU-30 that PL-15 destroyed was from 15th Squadron based at SIRSA AFS.
90% availability rate is too high even for the PAF, I understand that PAF is relatively small air force compared to the USAF and PLAAF. Finally 66% availability is more than the size of the PAF.90% for the F-16 fleet is incredibly good! How did we get that? What's will be the range of Astra BVRs on those Super Sukhois? We also can’t ignore the “Super Sukhoi” program. Upgraded Su‑30MKIs with AESA radar and Astra BVR missiles add depth to IAF’s fleet. Even without Rafale or Su‑57 expansion, these MKIs remain a persistent headache for PAF.
Sorry but IAF Mirage 2000 has the same availability as our block 3s??JF-17 Block 3 (~36) at a realistic 60–70% is 24
No, there avaibility rates are more like our f-16s , since they have not been upgraded and the spares are no longer made in France. This is why India is buying second had mirages as spares. I would not be surprised if it’s as low as 60%Sorry but IAF Mirage 2000 has the same availability as our block 3s??
Astra mk1 110km claimed and astra mk2 which is still not produced is claimed by indians somewhat between 160 to 200km rangeWhat's will be the range of Astra BVRs on those Super Sukhois?
Can clearly see F-16s consistently being higher up in availability, but it all depends on maintenance regime and your requirements......you can easily push 80%.90% availability rate is too high even for the PAF, I understand that PAF is relatively small air force compared to the USAF and PLAAF. Finally 66% availability is more than the size of the PAF.
