What is reserved seats and why would only PMLN/PPP will get those seats , but not PTI ??

Seats reserved for minorities and women, they cannot be given to “Independents” so will be split amongst the political parties. Meaning only PMLN and PPP and other parties can get portions.

Reserve seats should be abolished.

No big deal. When big leaders play out of their turf they sometimes lose. Benazir, Imran, Nawaz all lost in such situations.
It is Nawaz's Lahore seat which is the main focus!!!

Had these elections been held free and fair, PTI would have obliterated PML-N and PPP. If this is the result during rigged elections one can only imagine the results during free and fair elections.

179 seat PTI would make so much change, moving to a Presidential system should absolutely be the first.

In Pak election only 266 seats are CONTESTED in the federal elections(Lok Sabha).

70 seats are reserved, 60 seats for women and 10 for religious minorities. These 70 seats are NOT contested but nominated, like Rajya Sabha of India. Rajya Sabha MPs are nominated, don't come after winning elections.

266+70 becomes 336 which is the total National Assembly, whoever has majority in the assembly forms the government.

The 70(60+10) seats are distributed within all political parties that won seats in the election in the ratio of their seats in the contested 266(like Rajya Sabha seats in India are determined by Lok Sabha seat ratio).

As PTI canidates are fighting as "INDEPENDENTS" they are not part of any party. As there is no party they will not get to nominate the 70 members. So if PTI wins 150 seats out of 266, only the remaining 116 candidates belonging to political parties would split the 70 seats between them.

***PMLN and PPP would get approx 60 out of 70 seats, majority number for 336 seats is 169 so they need to win only 109-110 seats combined to form govt together without any other party or defection by PTI "independents". 110 is very gettable even after the routing by PTI.

Anyone can make a Excel table and declare 2/3 majority, and circulate it on twitter with no source/proof. Obviously PTI will retweet it because it aligns with their political interests.

They have the form 45's to back it. They are uploading them currently to a database which will be made public.

So PTI will get substantial number of seats.

No. The reason is Pti has zero seats and reserve names are submitted in advance

Pmln will over take with reserve seats

PTI plan is to merge with small party and get reserves through that mechanism but I'm pretty sure it will be blocked by qazi essa

There is NO PTI in these elections, all candidates were independents.

PMLN PPP MQM PMLQ everyone will get seats, but PTI candidates are independents.

Independents cannot get any share of the reserved seats.
