Pakistan-Saudi Arabia mutual defense pact: News & Discussion

Qatar's situation is not much different than UAE, small country with small local population with no appetite for war or conflict but massive natural resources and rich nation, but given Qatar now has militaries from many countries, like America, Turkey (was planning i think?), French, so adding Pakistan will be complicated, now unless in coming days if America reduce its presence in Middle east which i don't see it happening, this might be a bit complicated thing. Plus Pakistan promising forces, Sq of fighter jets to a country without making sure that our own strength doesn't lack behind is also a concern, if reports are true than we already send 18 fighters to KSA without replacing them in Pakistan, we are already short of Sq compared to India, and if we send 1-2 sq for KSA/Qatar we will compromise our own security given the hostile nature of Galeez qoum next to us.
Now unless the new J-10CE's numbers are increased to 60-80, and we get 1-2 more JF-17's sqs I don't see much coming out of this Qatar joining the PACT, or maybe it will take couple of years before Pakistan is in position to spare jets, AD systems and troops for Qatar.

Nobody was talking about new J-10CE and JF-17 Block 3 purchase order for last 2 years. But now that situation changed and we are sending Fighter jets to KSA and probably Qatar too, I think this is the reason CAS told media in press briefing that they are buying more J-10CEs and JF17B3. According to latest pictures, we already got 42 Block 3s. And pictures from China shows new produced J-10C/CEs as well which are probably for Pakistan.

So I believe in this year, we will be able to cover all these deficiencies by getting 10-15 J-10CE and 12-18 Block 3..

I know, I know, PDF forum right, major newswire wrong
That is not the point. Pakistan’s deployment is "defensive " in nature. I know you believe in newswire as the only word possible.

Well they quote people in the know, we just go by gossip, so yes, you will forgive my bias hopefully

  • Summary
  • Deployment includes 8,000 troops, JF-17 jets, drones, HQ-9 air defence system
  • Saudi Arabia finances deployment, Pakistani personnel operate all equipment, sources say
  • Pakistan previously sent jets after Iranian strikes on Saudi energy sites, Reuters reported
ISLAMABAD, May 18 (Reuters) - Pakistan has deployed 8,000 troops, a squadron of fighter jets and an air defence system to Saudi Arabia under a mutual defence pact, ramping up military cooperation with ‌Riyadh even as Islamabad serves as the main mediator in the Iran war.
The deployment, the full scale of which is reported here for the first time, was confirmed by three security officials and two government sources, all of whom described it as a substantial, combat-capable force intended to support Saudi Arabia's military if the kingdom comes under further attack.

Pakistan's military and foreign office and Saudi Arabia's government media office did not respond to requests for comment on the deployment.
The full terms of the defence agreement, signed last year, are confidential, but both sides have said it requires Pakistan and Saudi Arabia to come to each other's defence in the event of an attack. Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has previously implied that it places Saudi Arabia under Pakistan's nuclear umbrella.
According to the sources, Pakistan has deployed a full squadron of around 16 aircraft, mostly JF-17 fighters made jointly with China, which were sent to Saudi Arabia in early April. Two of the security officials said Pakistan had also sent two squadrons of drones.

All five sources said the deployment includes around 8,000 troops, with a pledge to send more if needed, as well as a Chinese HQ-9 air defence system.
The equipment is operated by Pakistani personnel and financed by Saudi Arabia, they said.

THOUSANDS OF TROOPS

The military and air force personnel deployed during the Iran conflict will primarily have an advisory and training role, according to two of the security officials, who said they had seen exchanges between the two countries and documents on the military assets' deployment.
The deployment adds to thousands of ‌Pakistani troops with a combat role that were already stationed in the kingdom under previous agreements, all three security officials said.
One of the government sources, who has seen the text of the confidential defence pact, said it provides for the possibility of up to 80,000 Pakistani troops being deployed to Saudi Arabia, to help secure the kingdom's borders alongside Saudi forces.

Two of the security officials said the agreement also involved the deployment of Pakistani warships. Reuters was not able to determine whether any had reached Saudi Arabia.
The scale and composition of the deployment — combat aircraft, air defences and thousands of troops — mean Pakistan has sent far more than a symbolic or advisory mission, the sources said.
Reuters previously reported that Pakistan had sent jets to Saudi Arabia after Iranian strikes hit key energy infrastructure and killed a Saudi national, raising concerns that the Gulf kingdom might retaliate heavily and widen the conflict.
This took place before Islamabad emerged as the war's principal mediator, helping to broker a ceasefire between Washington and Tehran that has held for the past six weeks. Islamabad hosted the only round of U.S.-Iranian peace talks so far, and had planned further rounds which the sides called off.

Reuters has since reported that Saudi Arabia launched numerous unpublicized strikes on Iran in retaliation for attacks carried out inside the kingdom.
Pakistan has long provided military support to Saudi Arabia, including training and advisory deployments, while Riyadh has repeatedly stepped in to support Islamabad financially during periods of economic stress.

reuters at it again smh , no shot we deployed hq9
just jeffs
I mean a AD is important to protect the jeffs from Iranian drones or Israeli attack if that ever happen, It would be great if PA operate its own base in KSA which houses jets/troops and AD (Spider Anti-drone system) and surveillance systems. We saw what happen in Qatar when you rely on American Radar's and AD cover when it comes to Israel. I hope we also send 1-2 AWACS to KSA to have 24/7 coverage, given the KSA is right next to Israel we can keep an eye on them as well and if they ever to do something like "Khautta" then we will have prior knowledge and will be in better position to stop such actions.

PAKISTAN JUST CHANGED EVERYTHING

Pakistan has reportedly deployed 8,000 troops, fighter jets, drones, and air defence systems to Saudi Arabia as the Iran crisis spirals closer toward regional war. (Reuters)

The same country presented to the world as a mediator is now deeply embedded inside the military architecture surrounding Iran.

Meanwhile Iran is refusing to surrender its nuclear enrichment rights and rejecting demands for a long-term freeze on assets.

Washington and Israel are reportedly discussing renewed military action.

And every side now appears to be preparing for escalation instead of compromise.

But here’s the thing NOBODY is talking about:

The more this conflict expands… the weaker American influence actually becomes.

Because every escalation is accelerating regional realignment.

The Gulf states, Iran, Türkiye, Pakistan, China, and Russia all understand that permanent instability only benefits outside powers.

At some point, the region will be forced toward its own security framework and balance of power. Which is what we are seeing now with Saudi and Pakistan.

That’s why, in my repeatedly stated opinion, this conflict probably does NOT end with full-scale regional war.

It ends with a deal.

And the Middle East that emerges afterward will look very different from the one Washington dominated for the last 30 years.

More independent.
More multipolar.
More connected to BRICS and Asia.

And DONE taking orders from the West.

This war will ultimately be remembered as the end of the American century in the Middle East.
