Saudi Arabia strategic Projects: news, discussions & updates

My research says UK and Italy accepted KSA in a while ago. However, Japan was concerned about "technology leakage" to Russia and China through KSA (how shameful is this). It was also Japan who insisted KSA not join the project. And later, accepted ONLY on the condition of KSA sitting on the sidelines, and only come in when the technology is build out. Be a part of the end products testing and buy as many as they want to. Yet, have nothing to do with technology transfer and build process. Similar to how they buy F-15's right now. US does all the work and invites KSA pilots when jets are ready. They participate in flight test and training and then take it home.

Middle Eastern countries need to break away from this habit of being the end users when they pay for the products. Its dumb to say the least. If I had that much money, I would start these projects internally so as a country, MY people get the technology expertise so I can further my own internal projects. Similar to what Turkey is doing.
Japan, along with Britain and Italy, are working toward formal participation by Saudi Arabia under the treaty, but on condition that Saudi Arabia demonstrates beefed up technical capabilities and information security measures.

China newspaper "South China Morning Post":

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is a strong candidate to be a major destination for investment and residence, thanks to its advanced economic environment and recent legislative changes in the real estate market, where the Riyadh and Jeddah cities provide attractive real estate investment opportunities compared to its counterparts in the region, as the average price of the square foot is:
• Jeddah: about $ 100
Riyadh: About 123 dollars
• While in Dubai is about $ 400

This big difference in prices makes the Saudi market a promising investment option for value for return.

It is expected that the real estate market in the Kingdom will witness significant growth, to approach the weakness by 2033, to reach 133 billion dollars, driven by an accelerated urban expansion and increase the interest of local and foreign investors

Potential strains in Saudi-U.S. relations if President Trump obstructs MBS’s two-state solution efforts, assessing impacts on investments, Vision 2030, and MBS’s strategic positioning.

Potential Strains in Saudi-U.S. Relations

Impact on the Two-State Solution

  • Conflicting Priorities: President Trump’s approach may clash with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s (MBS) commitment to establishing a Palestinian state. MBS has shifted towards reconciliation with Iran and supports Palestinian statehood, which could be undermined by Trump’s policies.
  • Normalization with Israel: Saudi Arabia is unlikely to normalize relations with Israel without a commitment to the two-state solution. If Trump obstructs this, it could lead to tensions between Riyadh and Washington.

Effects on Investments and Vision 2030

  • Investment Agreements: Trump’s potential push for investment agreements worth up to a trillion dollars may be jeopardized if Saudi Arabia perceives a lack of U.S. support for its diplomatic goals.
  • Vision 2030 Goals: MBS’s Vision 2030, aimed at diversifying the economy and reducing oil dependency, relies on foreign investments. Strained relations could hinder these investments, impacting infrastructure projects and economic reforms.

MBS's Strategic Positioning

  • Regional Influence: MBS is attempting to position Saudi Arabia as a leader in the region. If U.S. support wanes due to Trump’s policies, it could weaken Saudi Arabia’s influence and its ability to navigate complex regional dynamics.
  • Domestic Stability: MBS’s legitimacy is tied to his ability to deliver on economic promises and maintain stability. Any perceived failure in foreign relations could lead to domestic discontent, complicating his leadership.
In summary, if President Trump obstructs MBS's efforts towards a two-state solution, it could lead to significant strains in U.S.-Saudi relations, affecting investments, the Vision 2030 initiative, and MBS's strategic positioning in the region.
