Strategic Defense Options for Small Economies: How Can Bangladesh Effectively Defend Itself?

nukes! there is no defence like nukes!
Indeed. Thats the only option that will work to deter a much larger enemy. Everything else is a path to failure due to pure economics of it.

Bangladeshis should open a world Atlas, look at their map and choose their friends and rivals /enemies carefully. That would be their best defense.

India could use the same advice if they zoom out a bit. It’s in their best interest to not make bd an enemy given China and chickens neck

China does not surround India.

China and India are both nuclear powers.
There is a natural barrier between India and China , the world highest mountain range.

These natural boundaries dont exists between India and Bangladesh.

As Bangladesh was once an integral part of India.

As Bangladesh was once an integral part of India.

Except it wasn't. There was no India before 1947. Unless you mean, the subcontinent region. Then it make as much sense as to say, Italy was/is Integral part of Europe. Stating an obvious past with no ramifications.

Bangladesh is not in a business of choosing enemies unless faced with agression. Like what happened with Myanmar.

You should be doing that. Guess you have no idea of the geographical constraints of China. They have to scale the mountains with India surrounding them from Sikkim to Arunachal. The only real threat to Chicken neck comes from South, not from north.

LOL, Bangladesh was as much integral part of india as Germany was integral part of Europe. Current india was born in 1947 and credit goes to the British Empire.
.
If you want to successfully scam about South Asian history, target an westerner.

And yet somehow you guys keep losing land to China

The mountain ranges do not extend the entire Indian Chinese border.

Bengal have always been an independent state or an allied state of the Mughals. Modern India didn’t exist until British took over from the Mughals and added some more territories

Ajay’s logic is as good as a crumpled-up paper.
If you had been living abroad, then you would have dealt with it as is usual there with crumpled-up paper; put it behind you. Don't forget to pull the flush.

2. Bangladesh is a natural extension of India.
That is why it sits within India's armpit, and there are no natural barriers between India and Bangladesh.

Bangladesh is infact one the artificial countries that was created by British after divisions of Bengal.

Modern India did not exist but India subcontinent has existed for hundreds of millions of years.

It sits all together on different tectonic plate than the Eurasian tectonic plate.

When Indian subcontinental plate crashed into Eurasian continental plate..it led to the rise the Hindu Kush mountains and Himlayas. Creating a natural barrier from rest of Asia.

Lol. Bangladesh/Pakistan was as artificial as India was as a country.

Losing where? No land is lost only incursions take place followed by disengagements on some flat plains or mountains. If India does it, we don't gain land but when China does it somehow we lose land.

Bring smarter arguments instead of deflections. There is a reason why no incursions take place in Sikkim. More Bangladeshis get shot in a month than Chinese get clubbed in a year and that's when SHW was the PM.
