Trainer Aircraft of Pakistan Air Force

CESSNA T-37
(1962 till date)

The Cessna T-37 (Tweet) is a small, economical twin engine jet trainer-attack type aircraft which flew for decades as a primary trainer for the United States Air Force (USAF) and in the air forces of several other nations. The A-37 Dragonfly variant served in the light attack role during the Vietnam War and continues to serve in the air forces of several South American nations.

Pakistan Air Force procured a substantial number of T-37 in the early sixties for use as basic jet trainer at the air force academy Risalpur. T-37s are still in service.

The Pakistan Air Force is now the sole remaining military operator of the aging Tweet.

Risalpur is the cradle from whence many fighter pilots came. The distinctive tweeting sound of the T-37 is very familiar to them.

The K-8 Karakorum has become quite a succes after a somewhat slow start. It was co-developed with the Chinese who manufacture it.

And needs to be replaced by what?

Not sure, but

1) We are the only operator so cannabalising spare frames for parts
2) No ejection seat in the thing
3) Unsure how suited the cockpit is for progression on to LIFT/Advanced

In fact whole PAF training infra apart from Super Mush needs upgrading.

A Tucano type trainer developed here could work.

mush needs going too,

no need for this varied approach.

something like the diamond dart would replace both smk and t37, then a jf-17 lift or another ots buy would replace k8 and also do ajt/lift

TAI Hurkus seems like a good fit for us, and we can rely on Turks
