Türkiye restarts F-35 fighter jet negotiations with US while refusing to give up Russian S-400 missile system

Would it be fair to assume that kaan is still a long way away?

yes very long , only 3 years

TAI to deliver 20 KAAN with the GE-F110 Engines by 2029
and total of 80 GE F-110 Engines comes from the USA for 40 KAAN Fighter Jets

Turkiye joined the F-35 program in 2008 and launched the KAAN project in 2010

TURAF had made plans to acquire these two aircraft as well.

Wtf happened to your own jet engine program ? Everyone was very high on it.

The domestic engine project has nothing to do with the F-35s
it has been a known fact since the very beginning of the project that the first KAAN jets will be delivered with American engines

The TF-35,000 indigenous engine project is progressing very well
the first ignition will take place in 2027 and it will start flying the KAAN with mass production beginning in 2032-2035 period

Handing over S400 will affect balance in the region we are not talking about Russian tanks being sold off here? It is also still unclear whether Russia will agree to the transfer of this system or not that’s because in many Russian arms export contracts transferring military equipment to a 3rd country won’t happen without Moscows consent more over if this equipment is sold to. Arab country UAE OR QATAR it supposedly be used against the Islamic Republic of Iran . And here Russia will have to choose whether it will side with Arab countries again or back Iran?

The most logical answer would have been to re-sell to Egypt, but given their alliances they are partaking in with Greece, that could be off the table?

Cairo has bought Chinese HQ9 batteries. I doubt Israeli would let S400 be installed near them. Isn’t HQ-9B rumoured to be based on s400?
Greece has s300s and USA doesn’t seem to care.
Probably ask Russia to buy it back or find a buyer that they are fine with:
you know who that will be …. lol

Yes sar we are a Supa Pawa …. 🐾 💥 🚬

Reselling back to Russia who may reuse in Ukraine will be a problem for the west, and it wouldn't be overly friendly of Turkiye to see it to India in light of the Makkah defence pact.

Iif no one buys them, then maybe they should set fire to them - lol.

It was a bad idea right from the start to get a lazy S400 at the price of ditching F35

Erdogan got really bad advisors.

It’s only a temporary solution sounds crazy I know it might work. S400 was to moved to Somalia. Turkey is building base Red Sea.

We don't know what happened with the UAE deal. But what was communicated to Turkey was that even if Trump wanted to transfer it, the law passed demands that the S-400 leave Turkey before any transfer of the F-35, and that dismantling it would not be enough to get past it. With the emergence of SIPER, the S-400 is not largely relevant, as by the time SIPER-2 and SIPER-A are ready, Turkey would have domestic capacity in a S-400 equivalent system. Its already there in most aspects of the air defense envelope like non ballistic missile intercepts. Enough so that Turkey feels confident in not needing the S-400 long term.
S400 saga itself is not about capability but Turkey falling into Russian sphere of influence and that required some sort of punishment.
Turkey getting rid of S400 means they regret going against American will.

Turkey has made a huge mistake when it acquired the Russian S400 in direct a-front to western warning …..

My head is saying Turkiye should keep the S400 and not trust US. Trump wants to sell f35s to Ankara can you actually trust him?

I fully understand and accept the compromises a nation is sometimes compelled to make when faced with the pressures of reality.

Whether for individuals or nations, the fundamental law of human society is that the strong prey on the weak. Consequently, when an individual or a country faces overwhelming pressure, making compromises becomes inevitable. This is a basic rule of human society, and I respect that.

Some nations have been forced to cancel purchases of Su-35 fighter jets or HQ air-defense missiles due to pressure from the United States. Such actions are entirely understandable and acceptable in the international arena.

China, too, has experienced similar situations; there is no shame in it.

What is truly shameful is the behavior of certain Turkish nationalists on this forum.

When the U.S. warned Turkey against purchasing the Russian S-400 air-defense system, the Erdoğan administration chose a stance of tough defiance—a move that made some people proud, viewing it as a display of governmental strength.

When U.S. sanctions arrived, the Erdoğan administration chose to continue resisting and to pursue independent development—something that thrilled certain individuals!

Yet, when Turkey found it increasingly difficult to bear the pressure of CAATSA sanctions and the Erdoğan administration began to compromise, those same individuals tried to spin the narrative and rationalize the situation.

1. CAATSA is a piece of U.S. domestic legislation; it is neither international law nor a NATO regulation. Nothing in the NATO charter or its mechanisms provides a basis for imposing economic or arms-trade sanctions on member states.

2. As a NATO member, Turkey is neither the first nor the only NATO nation to purchase weapons from Russia.

In that time it doesn't mattered if we had not buyed the S-400 they would still put Caatsa on us. Look now the same people selling the F35 everyone with Russian airdefence systems. They wher talking about saction because off greec claim about eez.

remember this begger from a begger country.

back in the days they had memendez and other zionists lobying about not to sell anything to Turkiye. If ther was no war in Ukraine and Iran these people would still hostile against us.

What is the point of F-35 as it cannot be used against Zionist entity and maybe even Greece?

S-400 is a proven system and gives great air defence for Turkey while they build up SIPER network and get KAAN into service.

You are spot on

Ankara should not sell it or give it back rather deploy it against Israeli & Greek threats.

Screw useless NATO. It only exists to defend Western Europe.

Turkey should get Chinese defence systems and Stealth Jets.
