US Political News and Trump’s China visit

Because they caved, perception can and will be built against Establishment Dems by the Modern Dems. They will be primary-ed all across the country.

Btw, looks like maybe able to add Katie Wilson in Seattle to the count of dem wins across the nation:

Remember what I said about Mandani and how the Democratic establishment is unwilling to embrace him, I mean, they don't need to embrace his socialist ideology, but they need to embrace him and what he was running for. This is about that, at least this is what I think.

There is no possible reason to cave now, especially in this way, when they got nothing in return (a December vote is a joke, and they probably aren't going to do another shutdown when this senate bill expires on January 31, 2026.)The only way it makes sense is for them to try to pull the Democrats back into the Centrist left, which is where this Democratic establishment is.

I am a centrist myself, and I will say ending the shutdown makes sense, but as a casual observer to politics, Democrats are not going to win anything by staying centrist; people need change; that's why they ditch the more "moderate" brand of either ideology and go for Populist. Which means doing this now will only flush out all centrist within the Democratic party, or the GOP will gain more support from this by dem voter staying home.

There was a video from NBC (Not MSNBC) I watched last night, they were comparing the generic vote after the shutdown, and every time Democrats cause a shutdown, they gain preference DURING the shutdown and lose preference AFTER they cave. It went up to 8 points during the shutdown, and we had seen the election result from it. Usually, after they cave, they will hold the lead, but it will be significantly less. 2026 will be a strange race, either Dem have to fully surrender to more left-leaning, more progressive, like you said, people are going to support a more progressive candidate during the next Primary, or they are going to lose out to the Republicans, because Democratic supporters are going to stay home.

It’s as simple as the establishment Dems are campaigning against Trump, and the New Dems are campaigning more so for something; more entitlements and rebalancing the tax code to favor working class people.

What I liked under Biden was the infrastructure bill, and especially that it passed on a bipartisan basis. What the new Dems will have to be careful with will be to not push for things that don’t immediately help regular folks, like the green new deal. What the new Dems should hammer home on is affordability in the form of housing. Especially coming on the heels of Trump’s proposed 50 year mortgages and 15 year car notes, it’s a need most Americans can FEEL.

And it’s not just pushing back on Trump. The new Dems could really push back on the neo-gilded age elitist mindset that doesn’t respect what Americans value most, family, friends, connection, community, purpose. We are not just consumers and workers.

The tone deafness of elitists like Ben Shapiro, on this but also many issues, is just one example. There are no affordable places left in the US for young people, especially in this job market, that want to live how most Americans want to live, at least near where they grew up, and able to afford to have a family and a purpose.

Btw, this video from 4-5 years ago, show that Mamdani’s been promoting a place most can call their home. These are small units, but at least it gives people a sense of having a permanent home. Older apartments are 430-645 sq ft, while average apartments are around 839 sq ft in Vienna.

A great political move by Mamdani, if he had announced it today, would have been a commitment to turn some of the underutilized buildings in the city into SROs, and prioritize the housing of homeless veterans of New York, ahead of all others. New York City is home to approximately 135,000 veterans, with under 500 officially homeless, but probably far more in less than ideal living conditions. With such a visible program, and such a deserving population, the dignity of housing the point would be self evident to all Americans, of the restorative power of dignified housing.

p.s. it’s good that Mamdani has appointed his deputy mayor that backs up his ambitious plans as he reassures the public of his commitment to a balanced budget and financial responsibility.

The quiet parts of Mamdani’s agenda; lower the cost of doing business in New York City, for small to medium businesses; taxpayers taking on the cost of childcare, allow New York City employers to offer compensation packages to potential workers at lower and competitive salaries to other major cities, allowing these companies to stay in business in New York city. Free transportation (it feels like most New Yorkers don’t pay the bus fare, so let’s accept that and keep them moving, as fast as possible) and lower cost of housing abound also be seen in this vein.

Another important election result from last week, was the re-election of Aftab Pureval in Cincinnati. He won in 2021 with over 65% of the vote then. This year he won by an even larger margin; 80%, and that too against JD Vance’s half brother, Corey Bowman.

This a “blue” city, but it is JD Vance’s hometown, and in the state that is rejecting Vivek with such xenophobia, that you would think Aftab and Vivek were running in two different places.

Dems are re-learning that you have to not become like the elites and need to focus on serving the working class to win.

That is the issue here, the Dem is in some kind of "in-fighting" and unlike the GOP, where the centrist had lost to the right, right now the centrist in the left is fighting the progressive.

The thing is, it didn't matter what Mandani promise, many of those things won't happen unless Hochul agrees, and right now, we are on this establishment vs progressive fight, I wouldn't know who will win, or how they will be able to win, but unless this has come to the conclusion, it is going to be the same as before. Dem most likely will flip the house in 2026 as they only need to flip 2 that's probably WILL happen in NY (where there are 6 GOP house member alone)

As for Mandani or whether or not progressive will win this fight, it depends largely on the message, people wanted change, and much like we are getting the right wing nutjob into the house between 2019-2024, we are going to see a bunch of "left wing nutjob" in 2026 and beyond, then we will see if the progressive can push the left like the MAGA pushes the GOP, sad to say, I think after 2026, centrists is probably gone.

Visas can be denied for obesity, cancer and diabetes, says Rubio

WASHINGTON: The United States will consider obesity or having children with special needs as reasons to reject immigrant visas, in the latest salvo by President Donald Trump to turn away foreigners.

In a cable sent earlier this month, Secretary of State Marco Rubio asks US embassies to factor in conditions including obesity when issuing long-term visas, on the grounds that being obese can “require expensive, long-term care.”

It also asks embassies to assess if any dependents have “disabilities, chronic medical conditions, or other special needs and require care” to the extent that the visa applicant could not work.

The memo was first reported by KFF Health News. Its contents were confirmed to AFP by a person who saw it.

The United States is already one of the most obese countries in the world, tied to factors including the diet and lack of exercise.

Around 40 per cent of the US population is obese, with rates on average higher in states that voted for Trump.

The new guidance will apply for people seeking to immigrate to the United States and not foreigners on routine short-term visits.

The United States has long looked at whether a person would become a “public charge” -- relying on government funds -- before admitting immigrants, including when Americans seek to bring in marriage partners.

Trump is not going to win the 2026 Midterms.

He was given a specific mandate which he pissed all over.

In comparison, Laura Loomer makes MTG look normal:

Loomer was a complete non entity until a paid fed informer, "Baked Alaska", pretending to be a far right activist, started going after her.

I have been trying to expose this clown for ten years now.

‘Baked Alaska’ pleads guilty to misdemeanor for role in U.S. Capitol riot

The House Select Committee investigating the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol has a mandate to investigate the role of social media in fostering the conditions for the insurrection. One name familiar to January 6 investigators-- that of Anthime Joseph “Tim” Gionet, AKA "Baked Alaska," who filmed himself entering the Capitol-- also appears in the Charlottesville evidence repository.

This clown, fed informer, showed up at Charlottesville, VA's Unite the Right rally also.
