Stranger things have happened. IF for whatever reason the sikhs get their own homeland, they would be strategically very important to the west. The sikhs would leverage this. This would be to the MASSIVE detriment to ALL the countries that would surround a sikh homeland. Not just india.

That way it is even possible that, for whatever reason, Pakistan will renounce Islam and join India as a part of "Akhand Bharat" or whatever they call that fantasy these days. Stranger things, right?

Any how, If US needs a base in the region, Pakistan will come running to provide one in and around Lahore.

Look, there is a fundamental reason why it is possible. No General or Politician can retire in China nor they can settle their sons and daughters in China. That happens only with US / UK. So long that is the case, all the wishes of US will be honored by power that be in Pakistan.

China will never have that kind of influence over Pakistan's politicians and generals. It simply can not provide shelter for Pakistan's ruler's ill gotten money nor can act as a retirement home for them.

I just came back from Pakistan around 6 weeks ago. The Chinese already have a stronger influence on Pakistan. The amount of infrastructure projects going on all over Pakistan that are being carried out by the Chinese was unprecedented. Something not seen before.

Ultimately your movers and shakers do not care about what China brings to Pakistan. They care about what it brings to them personally.

Think about it : will any nation go out of its way to destroy its own internal politics for sake of a foreign power? The subversion of Pakistan's election and brutal removal of its leader did not happen in vacuum. It was ordered and directed by the west. Can China ever have this kind of influence?

I highly doubt it.

Good points but it is a little premature to say that China will never have the same kind of influence on Pakistan as USA does not.

You forget that China is right next door and a superpower that close will have MASSIVE influence on all neighbouring countries, unless they are either very strong themselves or part of a strong alliance.

Kalistani , Kashmir , balochistan, tibet …or any new nation will be of immense interest but most of them being land locked will be a bigger issue. Eventually they all news to learn to live with surrounding nation.

Right now the main issue of Punjab is with the rampant Evangelism that is going on, After 20 30 Years the religious mix of Punjab will be a whole lot different if they are not stopped and it may lead to another round of violence mostly between the different communities.

Actually, they can get a much better base in Thailand, Malaysia or Singapore. Andaman Nicorbar are far off still.
