As China Unleashes 80,000-Ton Fujian, India’s Ex-Naval Chief Wants France’s Help To Construct Nuke-Powered Aircraft Carrier

I don't think India would go for nuclear carriers BTW. The Navy has rightly said that a 65K T 'mixed' carrier is the best way forward- a conventional carrier that flies both piloted planes and unpiloted drones. This will reduce a lot of human staff/quarters requirement while maintaining offensive capability. The old days of large carriers with catapults, dozens of planes and huge personnel deployments are gone.
Indian Navy has no option other than a nuclear powered aircraft carrier if they have to transition to steam catapult / EMALS launch system from the current ski jump carriers.

Fujian is an interesting exception, but I wonder how effective it can be.

They want performance right now, but it will tie them into global alliances.

Chinese products maybe lagging, but field testing will identify where China needs to improve.

Now take the following video from a known anti-China channel, ignore the political points and look at the some of the technical points he raises, these are potentially valid things to look into.

One aspect is the speed of Chinese ships. It’s something to I’ve heard American retired military commentators point out as a vital metric, and related to the shape of the bow. Another aspect is the electrical power limiting the performance of the radars. Improvements to the air defense missiles carried is also a valid point to look into, considering the threats increasing as well.

Obviously, China doing everything on its own will take time to catch up, but once its does, it will be independently comparable to any task force out there.

Imagine the maintenance headache, one component missing and late, they are fcked. Are they gonna wait 6 months for components in a war with China? I am confident of the quality of Chinese weapons because they are tested rigorously by our military. Anybody can comment until the real war starts, remember HIMARS and Bayraktar? Media is controlled by the West but I think it is good, we get scrutinize so much, we tend to improve faster.

Let me share something: We're the second country in the world, after Japan, to have developed sophisticated Ku band and X band AESA seekers for A2A BVRAAM, SAMs, and cruise missiles.

Uh huh, not even America Russia and CHina has it right? Funny how you needed to import seekers until 2022, and then suddenly a country with no semiconductor industry can make super duper semicon? Fyi, we don't even reveal what our seekers are.

We import anywhere from $2.5 to $4B in a year (varies year by year), so this mean we're close to being net-zero importers in monetary terms. Another 5-years of solid growth needed and we could reach the net-exporter status. What a change!

Other than dimwits like Armenia who China won't sell to due to Russian sensitivities and beggar PInoy which bought your Russian missile. Wht do you even export?

With an Indian turbofan engine!
India boasts several companies that excel in metallurgy. In the defense sector, Bharat Forge has contributed to the indigenization of artillery systems by producing high-quality metal components. They are the ones supplying 84 ATAGS and mounted guns to Armenia.

Recently, one of India's companies, PTC Industries, has won a contract to supply die casting parts for the Rafale.
Recently, our MIDHANI established the world's second-largest isothermal forging press.
Realise the word 'boasts'. You have the bestest everything but need to import Howitzers. lolol

why the hell al the noise about the AC from China. this Disel guzzler is supposed to patrol chinese shores udner their AD, .. when Americn Navy ACs will show up, this baby will hide somewhere in the dock..

If you want to know what we have, we have the largest AC in the world (stationary :) ) by the name Andaman and Nicobar Island at the entry point of Indian Ocean, size is 8500 Sq KM. we can put as many plans, missiles and other equipment we want. the Australians have the Christmas Isalnd down south and Americans have Diageo Gracia further south..

so be happy to float your diesel barge in South China Sea and bully minos like Philippines
Wonder how they'll use a conventionally powered AC for catapult ops that consume a looot of enermy.

What I’m saying is China has gotten really good at making modern and efficient designs, sub 30 knot max speed designs, but it will need designs that go beyond patrolling to one that are faster than they would normally need to be, to be able to challenge other ships, especially in ASW. The Nimitz can safely go 34 knots and the ford is said to go around 37-38 knots. US subs can go to about 50 knots.

China may not want to build Ferraris when it’s fine with economical Ford F150s. But the world’s oceans are a race track and it will need its own Ferraris to be competitive.

More electrical power and better hull designs can lead to ships that are faster and have the electrical power for radars and other sensors.

Chinese carriers re all technically experimental. The fourth or at the latest the fifth Chinese carrier is expected to be nuclear powered. They are learning and developing tech and operational experience with modest ships, before having two shipyards able to build nuclear carriers by the end of the decade, at the latest.

They are on a slow and steady approach.

First let us all see concrete proof of that 3rd floating casino launch a dead weight for testing, let alone an aircraft. Then we should consider it a relevant threat.

I agree, but the reason it is slower is due to propulsion tech. China is still behind the US in propulsion tech. This is something that might take 20-25 years. We have only recently started to install new gas turbines on our own oil rigs, imagine this, even having perfected WS-10 for almost 10 years, it still took us another 5 to 10 years to make a civilian version from its core.

Or better, should we all wait to see the day when your country can indigenously design and build a floating coffin ?

lol, another pathetic lie, you can claim Mao murdered many Indians in 1962.

deliveryService

This is what I say. Chinese are continuously lied to. And they bend over. Only Ball-istic Missiles. No Balls.

Depends how you count murdered? Going by yr logic Modi killed 6 mil Indians during cOVID.

Going by that logic, Xi is the cause of Covid-19, the Wuhan virus. Thank you for agreeing. First Chinese to admit that Wuhan virus was caused by Xi Pooh. Should we make you famous on twitter by linking this quote of yours?
