Five Chinese nationals killed in suicide bomb attack in Pakistan

Just you wait, they will set up a "high level" JIT with the usual suspects and they will publish a glossy report accompanied by a few pathakas instead of conducting pro-active work that actually gets results.

Lots of questions here.

Pakistan and China have the determination and ability to make terrorists pay the price for their actions, and any attempt to undermine China-Pakistan cooperation will not succeed, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said on Wednesday.

Lin made the remarks at a regular press briefing in response to a terrorist attack that killed five Chinese nationals in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province on Tuesday.

"We strongly condemn this terrorist attack, express deep sympathy for the victims, and extend sincere condolences to the bereaved families," Lin said.

Noting that some other countries have also condemned the attack and expressed sympathy for the Chinese victims, Lin said China is grateful for that.

I don't think China has any interest in military expansionist especially in terms of Afghanistan. They are businessmen they expand their interests using finance and trade. China can and definitely will exert pressure on Kabul via their financial interests in the country.

But beyond political measures, some form of robust response is long overdue.

- The day China gets involved militarily that will be the day her goodwill in third world countries will start evaporating.

- Does China want to start seeing dead bodies of Chinese soldiers? It is very easy to control thing behind Chinese firewall but not in outside world.

- Afghanistan will become open field between two parties just like during Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. And Pakistan will be in worse situation.

There is no military solution to this problem and most Pakistani know real solution to the problem but no one wants to touch it so good luck.

If today IAF sends aircrafts in Pakistan's airspace or IN send its subs/ships in Pakistan's seas or if IA infiltrates with regular regiments into AJK/Pakistan - the Pakistani Armed Forces will give a prompt response.

Its against TTP/BLA that quagmire starts to pose hurdles. I wonder what the hell is NACTA doing.

Visible enemy versus hidden.

Its because Pakistan knows where are the headquarters, brigade HQs, troops, airbases, naval bases, all about an established military. Whatever kind of response is required can be formulated accordingly.

For the TTP / BLA, wherever they meet, where their top command is located, who are the important people in their network -- all that is unknown. Pakistan cannot hit TTP unless it has intelligence on their active locations. It was believed that Pakistan had intelligence network in Afghanistan during the 90's. All that's gone now. It was difficult to establish that when there was NDS and govt from northern alliance faction actively in bed with indians. Post 2021, Pakistan could have started to recreate this intel network and should be doing that. Only intelligence will get you to the top leadership of TTP. Otherwise you will just keep killing few foot soldiers and they will keep generating 100s more. A never ending cycle.

I see some members always saying to Strike, Carpet bomb, etc. Somehow they assume that Pakistan knows where head of TTP is sitting. They always skip the part of ISI and start demanding from PAF to drop bombs. This is not how its done against a non-tradition enemy. OR either these people are demanding collective punishment against Afghans as general. That too is doomed to fail as you simply don't have ammo or budget to carry out strikes all over afghanistan and not to mention the kind of monster that you will create at a million times more furious then TTP. I am all in for striking the enemy but at the right spot which does make a difference and eliminate the threat and not increase the threat.

Interesting that the timing came shortly after the meeting between Ahsan Iqbal holds a meeting and Chinese ambassador to Pakistan, Jiang Zaidong on phase 2 of SEZ and Phase 2 of CPEC.

High explosive , blew up everything. Too many players active in Baluchista

As I suspected, the vehicle came from the opposite side. The Bus did NOT have an escort in front. Even if the bus driver/convoy suspected something, there is NOTHING you could do here.

FIrst of all, where did the attackers source the explosives. Secondly, how did this explosive laden vehicle allowed to operate so freely for a protracted period. Lastly, how did they know the bus was carrying the Chinese?

A lot of unanswered questions and raises huge doubts on the official narrative.

Incorrect, what you see here is a failure of security protocol. In Pakistan as with most countries VVIP security (the kind which is provided to CPEC staff) requires that all vehicles travel in a security convoy.

This is made up of multiple vehicles but for simplicity I will explain, the most common formation used in Pakistan is called the "Open Box Formation" = see below:
1711553910191.png
During such movements - the route is cleared of traffic using what is known as a RPF(Route Protection Force) which also includes 2 or more outriders in motorcycles or a vehicle that travel ahead of the convoy relaying any potential threats or obstructions to the convoy.

To prevent "Cut In" or Lane Change behaviour - the proceeding vehicle changes lanes and blocks the vehicle changing lanes until the convoy has passed and then proceeds to join the convoy:

It is important to mention that as per the SOP's established for VVIP security - There should NEVER be a scenario during convoy that an unknown person(s) / vehicle has entered the route -

This is where there is a total failure of the security operation. Basically there was NO security convoy.

Visual example of this in practice:

Thanks for taking the time to explain.

I was wrong on another count, the vehicle was traveling in the same direction. However, I did not see either a lead vehicle or a proceeding Vehicle.

The video seems to come from the Host Vehicle behind the VIP.

Tuesday’s incident was the third major attack in a week on China’s interests in the South Asian nation, where Beijing has invested more than $65 billion in infrastructure projects, as part of its wider Belt and Road initiative.

Prime Minister Shehbaz called for “a thorough joint investigation to be conducted, utilising all resources of the state,” his office said in a statement.

Earlier, the PM chaired a meeting of civilian and military officials that reviewed security arrangements for the protection of Chinese nationals and their interests, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said, but gave no details.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for Tuesday’s attack, in which a suicide bomber rammed a vehicle into a convoy of Chinese engineers working on a hydropower project at Dasu in Pakistan’s northwest, killing six people.

Two previous attacks targeted a naval air base in Pakistan and a strategic port used by China in the southwestern province of Balochistan, where Beijing has poured billions of dollars into infrastructure projects.

Dasu, the site of a major dam, has been attacked in the past, with a bus blast in 2021 killing 13 people, nine Chinese among them, although no group claimed responsibility.

No one needs to claim responsibility for it, we know where the roads lead. Bas if only we can give a befitting response (Insha'ALLAH).
