Hangor Class Submarine | Updates & Discussion

That's plausible. But PN is literally very open about its flag ship Hangor submarine program. It got due media coverage, Every time there is steel cutting, launching or any other milestone then we do get to know.

Agosta upgrades are also well known. The location of sub anchoring is also well known as all is visible in satellite imagery.

Perhaps maybe in future they want to keep secret about it or perhaps secrecy is so far limited to mini-SSKs.
Hi, the days of hiding submarine docks on land is long gone. With the advent of drones, surveillance aircrafts and satellites it is next to impossible. The key is being able to be undetectable when out on a mission and in the open ocean.

Yep the Hangor and Agosta 90B upgrades were relatively public, but if you notice with the Hangor program, what we know is largely tied to the PN announcing big milestones.

But as you noticed, they've been very quiet about the SWATS. They said those will come, but we have no clear idea of which OEM won, when they'll come, how many, etc.

Yes very right, almost impossible to hide how many subs you operate when everybody can see your naval bases via satellites. Plus exact coordinates / locations of your submarines docking stations are known to the enemy. Unless you invest in underground submarine bases. I just draw a basic concept.

So basically, submarines will ALWAYS remain submerged before entering the base. First it's difficult to know exact location of the base. Even if the base location gets known, enemy cannot know how many subs you have built / procured and operating out of that base. Lastly, destroying submarines in surprise attack becomes nearly impossible. As massive elevations are impossible to penetrate using usual cruise missiles, unless the enemy has those B2 / MAP kind of stuff. Also most importantly, enemy will never know when your submarines left the base. Are those subs currently in deep oceans OR in the base. Enemy will keep guessing. So this thing is critical for Pakistan. Right now, we can count our all subs from satellite imagery. Enemy ofcourse will always have latest sat images then publicly available. It will give massive strategic advantage to PN.

Since Pakistan is investing a lot in submarines. I really wish we develop such hardened / secure naval bases.

Ormara has a natural elevation which is great for these, Plus that angle makes it impossible for any projectile to hit from South or East. Its opening is from North-West.

The submarines should be moved out of Karachi entirely, the Hangors and agosta's should be based out of ormara and Gwadar in underground bases where they can resupply and be maintained safe from any missile attack,

while the SWATS's should be divided between Karachi and Gwadar where they will be in the perfect position to sink Indian oil and gas shipping coming out of the Persian Gulf, because remember you can't just sit back and take hits you have make it as costly for them as possible. this is also the perfect environment for USV's to be devastating.

Since it's submarine-related, the news and details (after this point) went silent. The PN these days prefers keeping all news about sub-surface activities secret until projects are basically complete (e.g., SWATS).

IMO, moving forward, we probably won't hear of any PN subsurface procurements until they're several years past induction.

It is not just PN, it is probably the Army as well. They have gone completely silent.

At least two were publicly modernized and delivered to PN, It would stand to reason the third one has been modernized as well, but by then PN had gone silent, so it’s impossible to say the status.
Was the third one Hamza?? Its CO has been awarded just now....

We need 6 submarines, all missile attack rather soon plus one even leased nuke submarine for second strike capability. 3 submarines will have permanent rotation, two near water border with India / Gujrat. One out in the EEZ with long range missiles, keeping some deterrence away. If the second strike sub is leased, it need to just stay submersed deep in the ocean on unknown location, ready to attack.

I agree with other members, these need to be moved out of Karachi. In Gawader secured sub stations need to be built, as well as temporary stations established on Islands within Pakistan's EEZ so we can resupply them away from homeland during war time.

*PAKISTAN NAVY LAUNCHES THIRD HANGOR CLASS SUBMARINE IN CHINA*

The launching ceremony of submarine PNS/M MANGRO (Desig) was held at Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry Group Company Ltd, Shuangliu Base, Wuhan, China. Deputy Chief of Naval Staff Project-2, Vice Admiral Abdul Samad graced the occasion as Chief Guest.

While addressing the ceremony, Chief Guest stressed the significance of maritime security amid region’s current geo-strategic dynamics. He reaffirmed that Pakistan Navy remains fully committed to defend national interests while fostering a secure and cooperative maritime environment. Referring to HANGOR Class Submarines, he highlighted that their cutting-edge weaponry and advanced sensors would be instrumental in sustaining regional power equilibrium and ensuring maritime stability. Commending the dedicated work of China Shipbuilding & Offshore International Company Ltd (CSOC), he expressed satisfaction over steady progress of the project and remarked that HANGOR Class Submarine initiative would bring a fresh dimension to the enduring, time-honoured partnership between Pakistan and China.

The Government of Pakistan signed an agreement with CSOC to acquire eight HANGOR Class submarines. Under the contract, four submarines are being built in China, while the remaining four will be constructed in Pakistan at Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works Ltd (KS&EW) under Transfer of Technology (ToT) program.

The launching ceremony was attended by high-ranking officials from Pakistan and China, including representatives from Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry Group Company Ltd and China Shipbuilding & Offshore International Company Ltd.

Alhamdulilah!

Coming faster than any French/German submarine program. This is what is makes China's weapons systems and industry killer.....they deliver with speed unlike any other nation. No one even comes close.
PN making good progress on other programs as well.
