Iranian Air Defence Systems | News and Discussions

Good and relevant point. Important military assets like these radars must be protected, or else Iran's adversaries will blind her early in any war.
IMO IRGC knows those radar sistes are vulnerable. It is not a matter of how much SAM sites or TEL/TELARS defend them (actually IRGC anti ballistic missile protection It is not high).
But they're really useful, because they give early warning and useful information about the nature and entity of any hypothetical incoming enemy squadron.
Assuming the moving doctrine of Air Defense of the IRGC and the protected underground of many TELARS, if any B2/F35 or even F22 is approaching to iranian airspace, those radars will give excellent information for ambush them and shoot down many of them. IRGC have shown even medium range IR specifically designed to deal with 5 gen aircrafts. So they make sense even if they ve lost in some days.

You want to detect B2 or F22 with an early warning radar?

this is from Iran-Armenia military drills?

you must be new here
lol come on it’s a hit or miss with different Iranian military branches they either look top notch brand new equipment or shabby as heck and I can take them on one on one lol.
Yes it is from the Iranian Armenia exercise googled the picture

second deployment of Meraj-4 radar identified

we will likely see Bavar-373-2 in operation soon

Yes, you are right. It can give you an approximate location

A strong enough search radar blip that datalinked tracking assets now know where to beam. Even stealth airplanes give larger than their frontal RCS when they move in air and angles change so blips happen. Considering the Iranian IADS network of OTHs+other long-range search assets, this is not something out of the ordinary.

It becomes easier if library data is available characteristic to airframes. Iranian IADS has adapted to this in recent times.

My words on the subject from IRIAF thread

"Considering how much investment Iran has done in its IADS over the years (from overhauling MIM-23 to putting Datalinked TVC'ed HIMADS in export exhibitions in 12-14 years), I see it happening that a target specific profile library of stealth fighters or any fighters operating in and around Iran is being made and upgraded every passing day. Even modern tracking algorithms (lets say a S-300 PMU2) lock on targets after taking certain number of cues from wide low energy search beams then target is filtered through identification protocols like IFF or flight signature etc. This is a Search-Cue-Track-Filter-Lock mechanism.

RF-DNA library means AESA-FCR like Najm or Meraj just need few blips being matched in library and tracking algorithm already can jump to locking, knowing the target characteristics prior to identifying it. Suddenly an unsuspecting enemy is getting its MAWS alarmed because its being chased by a bunch of killers like Sayyad-4 chasing at 5-6 Mach while pulling G's because of TVC. Cant be jammed because of on-board ECCM, cant be dodged because it gets automatic target upgrades if it receives jamming signals. Even low RCS or stealth assets give blips when they maneuver in sky because RCS is not a constant value, its variable depending upon beam angle to the body of the aircraft. Other techniques to hide, like terrain masking or Low altitude penetration can also be negated with this technique.

So where IRIAF is a abandoned force, IRIADF is constantly stepping up its game through real time battle experience. Passive sensors of Iranian IADS see F-22, F-35, F-18E/F, F-15SE, Rafale, EF-2000, F-16C flying just KM away from its airspace daily. More dynamic data, more the IADS learns."

Not enough to shoot it down.
when you have the location , multiple tracking radar can focus their search beam om that area and your chance will be higher ...

These radars were one of primary targets of Zio/USA .... so they are lethal...

The IRIAF is not an abandoned force, on the contrary, it is bubbling with life, beware of false prophets of doom. The course of events will cause these people to lose face, we still need a little patience.

Based on the Ukrainian experience, ground equipment, radars and surface control devices should be surrounded by plastic nets, so that drones cannot penetrate them and do not explode.
It is also interesting to me that the Iranian forces use camera systems for aerial reconnaissance, but they do not install them on drones flying at high altitudes. Even if those systems require cooling, they operate with little energy. Two drones flying far apart would provide accurate data, especially with the right software.
