So where are these SU-35’s Iran has promised over and over.

Other than 2 weirdly colored Yak-130s delivered months ago. What have we to show for it?

What are you referring to here?

I am one of the pro SU-35 purchase camp. We have only heard Iran saying it’s a “done deal” and I have seen Russia build SU-35 and SU-57 for Russian airforce so the capability despite the Ukraine war is still there regardless of where the former Egyptian SU-35’s end up

Iran finalised this only back in December, and considering Russia is in a state of war and we don't know if these are being built from scratch or Egyptian ones getting upgraded we may have to wait longer than a couple of months.

60 Su35s would be good for a start. How many Hesa Kowsar does Iran have?, the production was started around 2018. Iran needs to produce a plane similar to this.

The primary supplier is involved in a serious conflict that has resulted in a LOT of losses including those in subcomponent suppliers(in terms of raw material and others) and reorientation for its military industrial complex. Probably delayed a lot of things -

One really odd option for Iran is if it can in the interim ask for any mothballed( but service life available) assets in Mig-29s available to purchase from Russia which I think it has the skillsets and knowledge to overhaul and put back into service. Not all of them off course- but it should be able to raise/replace a squadron or two with some of its own indigenous updates within the next 4-6 years. So when the Su-35s do arrive - they are joined by some decently capable body punchers that could potentially start taking some F-4s or F-5s offline.

How many Hesa Kowsar does Iran have?

9+9+9 = 27 = 2024 = 9 = 36

Rep 36

If it is a chain of construction of 9 per year since 2018 then we have the number of 45. Do not listen to those here who talk about the number of 4, it is completely absurd. The number of built is 27, this is the minimum. The number 4 comes from the kowsar Wikipedia page, it's ridiculous to rely on Wikipedia

Iran keeps its construction quite secret and for me, there is a nice surprise behind the lack of communication about the Kowsar. For 3 years Iran has been making multiple announcements such as missile boats and drones, so we should expect the same things for the kowsar.

Pre revolution we ordered 160 F16s and 250 F18s that were never delivered, that was in addition to the 80 tomcats, 200 Phantoms and 120 freedom fighters we had from before. Back then our population was 30M.

We need more than 24 Su-35s.

Russia recently delivered not only SU-35, but even SU-57 to its airforce. So production is rolling along just fine.

Plus there is the former Egyptian SU-35’s that we do not know what Russia is gonna do.

At the very least an encouraging sign would have been to deliver more Yak-130’s. We see no evidence besides the initial 2 test planes that were delivered.

Iran needs at least 250-300 operational and modern jets for relieving the IADS a lot

- 64+ Su-35
- Yak-130 trainers
- 80+ MiG-29 fleet modernized to M2 standard
- Upgraded F-14s and F-4s
- 40+ Su-75/Su-57, mix of both
- 20+ Su-24 modernized to M2 standards capable of carrying ALBMs
- 20-40 attack choppers (Cobras and Mi-28)
- X indigenous heavy fighter project/Kowsar

This is very optimistic but this is what could relieve IADS

If exhausting and depleting NATO wasn’t good for us. I would say we stop arming Russia, then once they beg us for missiles and drones, we can get more jets, this time with a discount

a reason they never delivered was because we ourselves cancelled the order and had to pay fine for that .if they didn't cancel it usa would have cancelled it in one year and we could demand compensation for breech if contract
and any source for f-18s?

i guarantee those are just dreams that won't materialize

With this signed defence pact, russians could share full licences for production, russia will be for long time in shortage for their own needs.
Otherwise you will wait many more years for sufficient numbers for adequate war birds.
