Why India persists on Tejas mk 2

Ultimately, it’s the Indian Air Force which has to use the system. And they know what fits their doctrine and what doesn’t. We should respect their judgement. The Tejas program is a must for India, especially for the reputation of HAL, and they must persist.

India doesn’t face any real threat, despite what the hindutva nutcases claim, from either China or Pakistan. There is no need to rush. India should take its time and strive to create a complete product regardless of how long it takes. Even in 2040 there will be major utility for 4th generation fighters.

Fifth-generation jets might become obsolete due to advancements in radar technology, IRST (Infrared Search and Track), and network-centric warfare, which will heavily rely on satellites. But, fourth-generation jets are likely to remain in service for the foreseeable future. A prime example is F-22, which is approaching retirement, while the 60-year-old F-16 is still operational, with new variants of the same aircraft still being developed. In fact, countries that operate F-16 are purchasing upgrade kits to modernize their fleets. Although Indian Air Force rejected the F-16, labeling it obsolete, nations with existing infrastructure and experience with the jet are likely to continue using it for at least another 40 years, possibly even longer, until United States develops a brand-new fourth-generation fighter jet.

Dear I am not saying for Su57, neither saying alone 5th Gen is good enough. My points are that Stealth is not over-rated and has a significant benefit and that's why US, China and rest of the world is going after it. Secondly, India is going too much behind timelines and needs to start work in parallel instead of step by step as they manage in space engine example i shared earlier, how they manage it, Indians knows better than me but they succeeded. I am not saying Indian can't do anything. Indian has done good progress in space program, Indian has done good in Navy side, Indian has done good in Missile defence side and many many other non-defence related areas. What I am saying HAL and IAF is planning to remain behind right from start. They need to do something somehow to change the picture. Reasons are mere excuses for not doing.
You claim that J-20 is stealth, But, Indian Air Force has explicitly stated that J-20 is not stealthy. you may believe that J-20 will have an advantage over Rafale, Indian Air Force does not share that view. As I mentioned earlier, IAF bases its decisions on ground realities, not media narratives. When IAF rejected overhyped F-16, which was popularized by Hollywood and the Indian and Pakistani media as obsolete, they did so based on a thorough technical evaluation. Similarly, when IAF shortlisted the Rafale and Eurofighter, despite them being three to four times more expensive than "fifth-generation" F-35, it was because they met the specific requirements needed to win wars, not to cater to media narratives.

Good luck to you dear with "Agar 5th Gen Hota............." 😅

People seem to forget that 12 Indian Mirage 2000 jets, escorted by Su-30 MKIs, entered deep into Pakistan undetected, bombed Balakot, and returned safely. None of these aircraft are fifth-generation stealth fighters.

and then comes............ Agar Rafale Hota

And all miss the target first ask your Mahan IAF they claimed we entered the Pakistani airspace but few days later your Mahan IAF changed their narrative that we didn't entered Pakistani airspace but instead used stand off munitions (spice 2000)

So which narrative of your Mahan IAF was true

4.5+ Gen Planes are here to stay for a long period of time.
MK2 is a proper 4.5+ Gen plane so it makes sanes to invest in it.
The only problem is manufacturer HAL. These freeloader socialist govt relics are good for nothing most of the time. Sadly se don't have any other alternative.

Brahmos missile also entered deep inside Pakistani airspace undetected

Ah we can detect it upon launching, its not a invincible and invisible missile, it has a very big RCS and IR signature because of speed and not a true cruise missiles (don't have a true terrain hugging capability)

We already prove it we can detect and track it upon launch

If J-31 were truly a fifth-generation fighter jet, all of China’s friendly countries would be buying it, and no one would be purchasing Rafales or Eurofighter Typhoons. Why would any country choose these ultra-expensive jets when 5th generation J-31 is available at a much lower price? By the way, F-35 is also cheap compared to Rafale and Eurofighter Typhoon.

The operative word is OPEX. The operational costs for F-16 are a fraction of the costs for other major platforms. The F-16 is a potent platform with all the avionics upgrades and weapon systems. The F-16 with AIM-120 and AIM-260 (if it works with F-16s) can be useful for decades.
