Peacetime domination of trade has nothing to do with wartime disruption of supply lines. Look at Yemen and Houthis. They are ... well... no one. And yet they made life hell for Israeli, British and American container ships with just few low tech drones and explosives. Because of their strategic location. And they are not fully trying as well.
That's why I say you are talking about your fantasy, it never happened even when China and US were the worst enemies during the Korean war. and now China is fast becoming the world leading naval power, the chance for that to happen in the future becomes even less likely after US is retreating from all fronts of the world.
During Korean war you were nobody and more importantly, India had nothing on line.
India does not have big ports because its trade is minimal. Why build ports when you have nothing to trade?
